We moved to our current house 6 months ago. We own a pool and have never had one before. The pool cleaning company we use- is small and self-owned by one individual. He cleans the pool once a week. On the day he cleans it- he normally puts chemicals in the pool- this makes it very cloudy for 2 1/2 to 3 days- It is so cloudy you cannot see to the bottom- whether it is the shallow end- 4 feet, or the deep end- 10 feet. Does this sound right??? It clears up to normal by the 3rd day- but since we have nothing to base it on (having never owned a pool before) we do not know if it is normal. So, if you have a pool cleaning company- let me know if you experience this. Oh yes, it is a chlorine pool (not salt).
My hubby works for a pool company cleaning pools and he said that that is not right it should not take that long to clear up. If you would like you can send me a message I can give you more infomation. He works for a small but great pool company called Aloha pool service. His Company has 4 workers.
Call A-Quality pools on highway 26. It is a very reputatable family owned company that has been around a long time. This sounds off to me. That means your pool is clear only 4 days a week?

Ours is a salt pool system and I put shock in it once a month. It will cloud up all over for about 4 hours, but then clears up. I know this doesn't answer your question, but to just let you know sometimes when chemicals are added, it does cloud up and take a while to clean.
I don't know if something you would want to do, but you can change your system from chlorine to salt. We love our salt pool, there is VERY little to do with it. Once a month we shock it, once a week we add another chemical. And we leave a vacuum running for as long as the pool filter is on.
Should not do this. We have a pool for now 10 years and use a service for the chemicals...now if it has a lot of sand in it for some reason then that will get stirred up when brushing but not even for 3 days...I use a company that does our chemicals only and very pleased...they come out the same time every week so no surprises and leave a note of what they did.

Take a sample of your water to Leslie Pools. They will test it for you for free. I would say the guy is putting too much chemicals into your pool. Ours is never cloudy for days.

We use Metro Pool ###-###-####. They do a great job & our pool is never cloudy. I think it's around $40 per month
I'm going to have to go with not normal. We clean our own pool, and if it is clear and we put chemicals in it, it stays clear. The chemicals do not cloud it up more. Is it a DE filter? Perhaps he's adding the DE and your filter just needs to be cleaned - instead of circulating the DE, it's just pushing it back into the pool (that has happened to us before and it does cloud the water). If that's the case, you need to open up the filter case, pull out the filters and wash the all clean. I use 1st Stop Pool in Plano at Alma & Spring Creek - they are a great store with the best prices for chemicals, and they have free training classes to teach you how to clean your own pool. :) Good luck.
When our pool company shocks our pool, it is cloudy, but only for a few hours. They leave a note telling us that it is safe to swim after 2 to 3 hours, and that the pool should be clear by then. Our pool company has been great; very reliable, always keeping us informed of what the pool needs, and very timely. I've gone through three companies, and this is the best by far. We're in North Richland Hills if you decide to switch companies; just send me a note and I'll give you their information.
When I had a pool in Louisiana we took care of our own pool. My hubby did the ph with a kit and me and my children vac it and Once in awhile I took Dawn dish soap to wash the tile with a brush. They are shocking the pool but we only did that after usually a heavy rain or something. You can take the pool water to some place and not sure here where to go but they will test it give you the chemicals and tell you what to do to shock it and what it needs. I do not remember it being that many days after having it done to be able to use it. I would go to a pool place and ask them. It does get cloudy before it clears up but seems to me it was only for a day maybe two. Call some pool places and ask. I always wanted the self vac and never had it. Our pool was so beautiful and glad I had the experience. I would have on i a heart beat but most of the pools I have seen here have been dipping pools. We had a diving board and all. My ex did not like keeping it up. When it was first pooled and filled we bushed it every day for weeks. Brand new home on a Bayou and wonderful parks around us and I loved it. G. W
when we had a pool we cleaned it ourselves, chlorine not salt. it would cloud up when you used chemicals but we usually did it at night & you could swim the next day. i do not think it should take up to 3 days, that's half your week! have you asked him why it would stay cloudy that long? i might check into someone else.
We had a pool 10 years ago. Do you have problems with algae? If so, the pool guy is "shocking" the pool with chlorine. That will make it cloudy. Best treat the pool now or later will require draining it , an acid clean, and refilling it. Cost of labor and water is ridiculous. Best shock it now. Later
