Check with your Y again. They offer scholarships to those who can't afford their expensive fees.

The YMCA does offer a Scholarship program. Go to your local branch and ask the Member Service Rep for an application. Be sure to have the application filled out completely and do not forget to include the information requested so there is no delay. I am a former YMCA employee, and do recall that it's best to complete an application around the first of the month because the branch's "scholarship committee" usually will meet around the middle of each month.
The YMCA also offers the Splash program, usually the first to second week of June every year. It is a free program to teach children swimming/water safety. I believe there is a part of the program that does the Parent/Child since your child is still an infant. They do advertise it on TV so keep your eyes open, or again, you can go to your local branch.

Hello- If you are not interested in the Y, there are a few other great places to go. I'm not sure what you were looking to spend, but on the high end there is Coney Island on Kellogg avenue. It is a graduated pool {very shallow to very deep} which you can sit in with the children. There are lots of mothers here with thier children. Then there is Mt. Washington pool. This is a pool owned and operated by the City of Cincinnati. Very nice area and very affordable. Don't quote me on this but I beleive it is about 30 dollars for the year. Then there is the Hamilton County water parks, no pools but lots of fun and lots of mommies to talk to. Hope this helps.

Hello, I read your inquiry.... I wanted to let you know that I was granted a scholarship from the ymca... anyone can apply. It can be a slight reduction to a very small monthly fee dependent on your situation. Just ask the people at the front desk for a application.... you will know the outcome and final cost (should you agree to it) within I believe 2 to 3 weeks. Check out your local High School. They usually have a pool and very often have family open swims scheduled.

Also, your local city's Recreation Department is different than the YMCA, and they will have a variety of activities that you can get involved in - and for much less, too. Call them and ask for their current and upcoming seasons schedules be mailed to you.

Hello Miriam. You might want to call a local college to see if they have a pool or swim program. Some colleges have programs for a reasonable fee. Also, I was wondering if someone told you that you don't have to be a member of the Y to take a class. You just pay a fee for the one class and maybe a sign up charge.
