Poop Stain Remover?

I put spray & wash on it, rub for a few seconds, then soak the whole thing in a bucket of water with a scoop of Oxi-clean for at least 10 minutes. It comes out before it even goes in the washer.

It will get better, believe me. My kids, especially my oldest had master blasters as we called them. They didn't have this product then but I use it now on my kids clothes and it works really well. Shout Advanced works good. You spray it on the clothes and it can stay on there up to 1 week. Also, try soaking the stuff in Oxyclean for a few days, yes I said days. That should do it.

I kept a plastic dishtub in my laundry sink and filled it with cold water and tossed the clothes in there until I could rinse and wash later.... Most of the time I didn't do anything special with them just got them in the water ASAP so that the stain didn't set in....

Im surprised no one has mentioned using cloth diapers to prevent the problem. They're so simple to use now and at this rate you're doing lots of laundry anyway. It only adds about 2 loads per week and it really helped to contain my daughters bf poo when she was itty bitty. The spray n wash stick works a lot better than the spray or you can try the oxi clean max force spray it works really well too

It sounds crazy, but the best thing that worked on my son's breastfed poops was dish soap. I would scrub a little and then let them soak in lukewarm water. It didn't always get out the worst of the stains (especially when they were set in), but most of the time it worked like a champ. Good luck! He'll be out of this stage before you know it!

I am a true believer in spraying the stain with Oxiclean or Shout Preset stain removers. Then soaking them in hot/warm water with the powder Oxiclean in it. My daughter is exclusively breastfed to and had those explosive poops and this has truely worked. I usually let them set in the soaking solution until the I was washed clothes again for the week. Hope this is helpful.

I agree with Shout or one of the heavy pretreating gels. What I've always done is put the clothes in HOT water right away. Rinse them. Then I put on the pretreating gel and scrub the stain with an old toothbrush. I just keep rinsing and scrubbing with the toothbrush until the stain is mostly out. I don't bother to completely rinse out the pretreating gel, especially if I am not going to do laundry right away.

The soap used is not as important as the timing and the water temperature. Hot for poop; cold for blood. I have used regular bar soap when I was out of pretreating gel.

I have never had anything stain when I used hot water and soap right away. If I waited too long or didn't do this, I would sometimes have issues with stains.

I had the same problem and found that using Spray n Wash or SHOUT within 20 minutes of doing the laundry, that the poop stains would come out beautifully...even if the dirty laundry had been sitting around for a week.

Make sure that you spray enough on the stain so that the fabric is completely saturated. Then, on the washing machine cycle, I used COLD for pre-wash/pre-soak, and WARM for wash & rinse cycles.

I made the mistake of using HOT for all parts of a cycle and the stains set in...even with Spray n Wash.

I'm a grandma and maybe old fashioned, but here's what worked well as I always used cloth diapers. I rinsed them out and then soaked them in a bucket of Borax and water. Then would hang them outside in the sunshine to dry. Every once in a while (especially in winter when can't hang in sun) I would run a batch through with some bleach.

I had the whitest and best fresh smelling diapers always that lasted through all 4 babies.

Another favorite stain remover is TryZyme. It really gets out grass stains well too but you have to leave it soaking for a day or two.

Sometimes we get too impatient and want INSTANT stain removal, but if we're patient and let things have time to digest and work --they really do work!

I too have a newborn, and what I do is immediately rinse it off, and then I spray it with the Dreft Stain Remover. So far (my little guy is 7 weeks old) nothing has stained with poop.

What I usually do is spray with shout and then soak for at least 24 hours in a non chlorine bleach solution. You could definitely use oxi clean or something ease instead. The secret is soaking in a concentrated solution for at least 24 hours, sometimes 48 depending on the stain.

Oxy clean is my new favorite stain remover. I don't have babies right now so not sure it would work on the explosions, but it works on tomato sauce, grass stains, and grease!

I LOVE Biokleen Bac-Out. I use cloth diapers (which by the way would help a lot with explosive problems, I use a prefold and a cover and very very rarely ever have messes on clothes) The bac out is made for organic stains like poop and spit up. You can find it online or at Whole foods, I also found some at Smiths's or Kroger.

All I do is use cold water to remove the solids, and then spray a little of the Bac Out on let sit for a few mintues and rub the stain. It literally eats the stain and it dissapears- even before the wash! For hard stains that are really solided, I may need to rinse with warm water and spray a little more on, or leave it on the stain for a few hours. But it always works!

We really love the Totally Toddler spray that you can get at Babies 'R Us, Buy Buy Baby, or even Burlington. It really takes the smells and stains out! Rinse the clothes, spray some Totally Toddler on, scrub (I like using a denture tooth brush.) And then, if there is still more stain, spray more on and let it sit for a couple of hours. Oh the joys of a breastfed baby's diaper blow outs! The best thing to do is rinse out the clothes immediately. Rinse w/water and use add dish/hand soap to work out the "mess". Getting the clothes to water right away is key to avoiding stains. I'm on breastfed baby #2 and I've never had to use anything stronger than plain soap. If the blowout is too severe - just throw out the onsie, pj, etc. :-)

OxiClean. If you don't let it set, you can just toss them in the washer on a heavy/long cycle with the powder. Otherwise, get the spray, pretreat with it, then run your wash with the powder.

Anyway, #1) sounds like you may need to try a different brand or a bigger size of diaper. I always knew when we needed to go up a size because we would have leaks more often. You shouldn't be having them all the time. Once in a while, yes, but not so often that it really affects your amount of laundry loads! We liked the Target brand when DD was small, my other friend said the only thing that worked for her was Huggies, and another said Luvs. Each babies butt and output is different so you need to find the diaper that fits your babies butt best!

As far as the stains go, put a little less than 1/4 cup of oxyclean and a tablespoon or two of laundry soap into your sink and run the hottest water you have in there. Let the clothes soak in there for a day, swishing them around once in a while (sometimes the oxyclean likes to settle to the bottom when you mix it up strong like that). That usually works for us even still. I've had it get out everything from poop to spaghetti to blueberry stains. Then, when all or at least most of the stain is gone, wash it with your regular load to get all the soap out. Spray & wash never did anything for baby stains for me. It's great on every day stuff but baby stains are more persistent as you've seen!

S. I have four children and swear by Biz you can add it to your wash for an extra brightner or as a pre soak. Also for those really hard stains you can make a paste and let it stay on for a couple of hours works great.

I use Oxiclean laundry spray, then soak the clothes for a day or two (sometimes more before I actually get to it!) in a bucket of cold water. I then wash the clothes in cold water (sometimes with Super Washing Soda), and repeat if necessary before drying.

Sit the stained clothes out in the sunshine...hard to come by in MI this time of year, but it works wonders!

My niece using the oxiclean powder in her laundry for almost all clothes, did you know that plain household vinegar is better than bleach for baby clothes. Just pout some in the wash water an then put in clothes an what you use for detergent.

Nature Bright works really well and it is not toxic, very safe for everyone especially babies.

It's good to hear that you don't really use bleach. Bleach is very TOXIC!

I have the same issue. I am trying to do the flylady thing (to keep a cleaner, more organized home) and she says to do a load a day, so I try to wash it that day in whatever load I'm doing, then it comes out. If it ends up sitting, it stains.

Use some good old fashion dish soap. While the stain is fresh, rinse it to remove as much as you can with water. Then squirt a little bit of dish soap on there and dab it or slightly rub it with your finger (don't rub it too hard or you'll wear down the fabric) then rinse it. If it doesn't come out right away add a little more soap, rub it in again and let it set for a few hours. Then throw it in the washing machine. I never had any problems getting stains out until my daughter started eating processed food. Breast milk, poop and homemade baby food always came right out.

I want to second the advice from Victoria- please consider Shaklee Get Clean products. Tough stains- NO problem- soak in a little Nature Bright (better than Oxi-clean) and the laundry liquid, and a squirt of Basic H- it will remove any stain and these are all natural products. My daughter uses cloth diapers for her children and this works great. I shudder to think of all the chemical laundry products that people are using now days- all these chemicals go down the drain and wind up in our groundwater and the Great Lakes, plus they are not good for children and other living things. Many children get asthma symptoms from breathing in the fumes from laundry products that cling to their clothes and bedding, especially at night. Stick with Nature and you can't go wrong.
