Its probably excema. My daughter has it, and if I dont use baby detergent, she will break out. I buy Baby ALL and wal-mart, its cheaper than dreft.
A little over a week ago, my daugther tried strawberries and rasberries for the first time. At that same time, I also switched her laundry detergent (from Dreft to Tide). A few days later I noticed she started getting a rash in the crease area where the top of her legs and pelvic bone meet (on both sides). Since I've quit giving her the berries, and switched back to Dreft detergent, the rash is gone. I am assuming she was allergic to either the berries or detergent. Has anyone else experienced this with their little ones? It's strange that the rash did not spread and only appeared in the crease area?

Good Morning M.. I am going with the Tide. It makes me itch something awful. My father in law used tide and ended up with a terrible rash all over his body. We switched him over to a detergent without dye's, and is hypoallergenic. He is a lot better now. You can check it out though. Since you went back to dreft try giving her the strawberries once more. Strawberries only for a few days. If she does ok with the strawberries after a few days, no rash, then try a different berry if you wish to.
You daughter is one? I think maybe bananas slices, clementine (oranges, No seeds and not as acidic) and small apple pieces might be better for her, also grapes cut in half.
I hope you can figure it out very soon.
God Bless you and your awesome family

I don't know about the laundry detergent, but I know with my first son my Ped. recommended not to give him berries for a while b/c some kids can have an allergy or not handle them well at first. I think we waited until he was after 2. So, maybe your daughter does have a reaction from the berries, but won't later?
My daughter is allergic to strawberries and raspberries, but her rash comes out on her arms, legs, torso or face usually. It only comes out in a couple of patches and doesn't spread.
She also had the rash in th creases, too. But it was an external yeast infection. Basically you need to make sure that you keep the creases clean, wiped and dry. I did receive a cream to put on it to get rid of the rash itself. So it could possibly be that.
Give it a few months and then try to introduce strawberries or raspberries. Wait a bit before introducing the other. You will know then if baby is allergic to one, other or both. Try not to introduce new items at the same time and wait a couple of weeks between intorducing new items. Process of elimination, is how you figure out what baby may be allergic to.
My guess is it's the Tide. A food allergy would have been more immediate. I'm 38 and still can't use Tide. It seems to be the most allergenic of the detergents. My mother never could use it or my brother and I have several friends who have the same problem with it.
My GUESS is that it is the Tide. I was not able to use Tide detergent when my girls were younger...it is one of the harshest detergents and if they are going to be sensitive to something...it is liable to be Tide.
Could I suggest that you re-introduce the strawberries to her...see how that goes. If there is no reaction...introduce the raspberries to her...and see if there is an allergic reaction. If neither of those cause a problem....mystery solved...it's the Tide!!!!
Good luck!!

It may not be an allergy but moisture from a wet diaper or sweating a little more than usual in that area.To be certain I would give her the berries but to carefully watch her eat them if she develops a red rash around her mouth I would discontine giving them to her for a little while longer and make sure they are washed really well, and as for the Tide I have heard that it is one of the worst laundry soaps to use it has harsher chemicals that irrate the skin but I too have used it with no problem. If there is no rash from the berries then let her wear the outfits washed in Tide and see where the rash develops and then you can either discontinue the use of Tide or use it but do an extra rinse cycle and that'll help out alot.I have switced to using Purex the Natural laundry soap and it smells so much better than alot of others on the market and my kids skin agrees with it to
Your best bet is probably the laundry detergent. My husband's family has the most sensitive skin I have ever seen, and this has been passed on to my children. My daughter cannot use any "Pull-Ups" that have the special gel liners in them, like the Cool Alert Pull-Ups or the gel cores to keep you drier because she will break out. Fortunately, she is now potty-trained and I don't have to worry about it as much. But, if I wash either of my children in a different soap they break out all over the place. My mother-in-law has also warned me that sometimes even scented toilet paper, scented feminine products, and even body soaps and washes will not only break her out, but will also cause her to get an infection, and it seems that my daughter has the same reactions to toilet paper and soaps as she does, minus the infections, so far. When I was pregnant, I noticed that I broke out in rashes from soaps under my breasts and in the creases of my legs, but have not had the rash since. Good luck!
My bet would be the Tide I can not use Tide which seems to be the worst for my son. I use All free and clear and don't have any trouble. My son was soo sensitive I couldn't use diapers with the colored lining. He was allergic to the dye.
Hi M.,
I'm sorry to say that little ones are Not the only ones to develop Allergies. My Husband has an Allergic reaction to Laundry Soap, Tide in Particular. What you might try is Double rinsing the Baby's clothes when you wash them. We do this no matter what Soap we use.
Keep her off the berries until you see if this helps.
Good Luck!

Well it's hard to say because you really didn't give it a fair shake in only eliminating one of the problems to determine what was causing the problem. Frankly, it could have been either, but from what you are telling me on the panty line I'm putting my money on the Tide. Despite everyone telling us it is a great non-allergenic detergent I myself am allergic to it. I would recommend if you want out of spending the big bucks on Dreft to move to any free and clear product...no dyes, no scents. The kind of rash you were talking about is usually attributed to detergents because it is in the panty line where you would have rubs when she gets warm...happens with me everytime someone decides to switch detergents on me.
BTW- try her back on the strawberries or the raspberries but pick one and give it a week trial before you introduce another item...just like when she was a baby.
My son is allergic to some foods, and if he is the allergy is immediate after he eats the food, not a day or two later.
Probably the tide. If I use tide I always run a second rinse cycle. Anymore I just don't use it. I know several people who have commented that they get contact rashes when they use tide detergent.
I would say it's the detergent...my kids did the same thing. We can't even use Tide-Free. Cheer Free or All Free work great for us. I love All Free and use it for the entire family.
Tide is one of the worst detergents for allergies. I can't even use Tide Free. My dermatoligst has me use Cheer Free. I don't feel like it gets clothes as bright but I don't have allergy issues.
It is definetly the soap and not the berries or she would have a rash on her face.My husband has rashes in his creases with poor laundry soap and he is 50. Lol
