Possible Miscarriage - Athens,GA

Hi, I found out I was pregnant last Friday by taking a home pregnancy test. I actually took 4 just to make sure! This was great news because my husband and I want to have a little girl (we already have 2 wonderful boys). But then Monday night I started cramping some, and then on Tuesday I started bleeding and the cramps got worse. I talked to the nurse at my doctor's office and they sent me to get some lab work done. I did that yesterday and have to go back again tomorrow to make sure "the numbers are going up". I'm still bleeding some today, but the cramps stopped. I'm a little scared because to me, I think I lost the baby. I won't know for sure until tomorrow. My other 2 pregnancies were normal. My question is, is there anybody who's gone through this, or know anybody who has? I'm scared now that if I try to get pregnant again, this is going to happen again. Any thoughts?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, unfortunately, I got the results yesterdat and the numbers were going down, so I did have a miscarriage. It's been very sad because we really wanted the baby, but I guess it wasn't meant to me this time. We will definitely try again, maybe in a couple of months. Hopefully it will work next time. I want to thank all of you for your good thoughts and responses. Knowing this happened to some of you and you then had normal pregnancies and healthy babies makes me feel good about trying again. Again, thanks again!

I lost two between my 5 year old and my 3 year old. When I was pregnant with my 3 yr old I bleed the first three months and the dr put me on bed rest. I know that is hard staying home, but my dr said that I could not even stand to wash dishes until I was 16 to 20 weeks. Good luck and my thoughts are with you!

I had what they called then "break thru bleeding" in my first two months of pregnancy with my first child. I too worried the same things you mentioned, but everything turned out fine and my daughter is now 30, married and living in Winder, GA working as a teachers aide.
I hope (pray) that all goes well with you and may God bless this new little one.

So sorry for your loss M.. I have had two myself and I hope at least your doctor told you that a miscarriage at this gestation is usually because of a chromosomal defect that occurred at conception. This means there was nothing you could have done or didn't do that would have changed the outcome. And unless you repeatedly have these types of miscarriages, there is no reason to think that you will not be able to conceive and carry another baby. A LOT of women have these types of miscarriages without even knowing they were pregnant to begin with. They just think they are having a nasty period. Luckily, you have the fact that you have had healthy full term babies on your side and so it shouldn't be a problem for when you try again!! Good luck.

I know you are upset but sometimes this happens. You may have not miscarriaged. I did this all thru my pregnacy. She was born early but healthy. If you did miscarry, wait a little while, 2 or 3 months to try again. You need your body to heal also.

This may never happen again. We have a friend who miscarried amd went on to have her 8th.

I new another lady who had the same problem but considerably worse (she bled alot more then I did), she was put on bed rest and her baby is now 4 also. Goodluck and I pray everything is OK.

I had something similar happen to me and I don't want to scare you just prepare you. I got pregant only a year after having twins and starting having bleeding and cramping shortly after I found out. The doctor told me that it wasn't too much to worry about and just put me on limited bed rest and then it stopped for a while and started back up again. Sometimes I would just have light bleeding and then others it was very heavy and lots of cramping. Around my 4th month he put me on complete bed rest and I had to quit working but I have other children so it was very hard to be on complete bed rest so unfortunately I lost my son at 5 months due to a abruption of the placenta...Apparently the placenta was never attached correctly from the beginning it slowly completely detached and aburpted. So if you have not lost your baby just make sure you follow the doctor's orders so that if anything does happen you will not feel that it was your fault b/c I felt that way for a while even though the doctor said it probably would have happened that way regardless of what I did. Well goodluck to you and I everything goes well tomorrow! Take care!

Hi M.-I have two stories for you. One, a friend of mine had this happen and the doctors were convinced she had miscarried...even were telling her to do a D and C to clean up. Well, she put it off because she was so upset (a couple of days I think) and when she went back in her numbers had gone up and she was still pregnant! She now has a beautiful little girl. The second one is that my cousin had this happen--she home tested early and a day later bled as if she had her period. When she tested again she was no longer pregnant. But the following month she got pregnant again! Sometimes your body just knows something is not right with the pregnancy and starts fresh. I'm sure you will have no trouble getting pregnant again if that is the case. Good luck!

I'm so sorry. Give it another shot ASAP! I had 2 miscarriages and both times I ended up getting pregnant the very next month. Apparently we are super-fertile right after because of the hormone levels. Good luck!!!!!

It is possible that this is normal if you just found out you were pregnant. I cramped and spotted a little the first month I was pregnant. I hope everything goes well. You will be in my thoughts and prayers

I hope the numbers are going up. They should be doubling every 48 hours. I had a miscarriage at 13 weeks. It was my 4th pregnancy. I hope and pray that you will get good news, but if it turns out to be something else, just know that I got pregnant 3 months later and had a wonderful pregnancy. hi M., have you been taking it easy; not been doing anything to stressful, like lifting, bending, things like that. elevated blood sugar, stress, etc. can cause the cramping and bleeding. make sure you are taking good care of yourself. keep your doctor appoinments. i will be praying for you that you and your husband don't lose your blessed gift. i had trouble with last daughter. but thank god she was born safely. my doctor had to pull her out, and she didn't breathe for a couple of seconds; but god was there and she was okay. i believe your baby will be fine. you and your husband pray on it, an you take care!

I am so sorry to hear that you are expierencing this on any level. I had 2 MC's before dd1 a twin mc between dd1 and dd2, another twin mc between dd3 and ds1. Just sharing that because I have been on the roller coaster! With that said I also have five children here with me. 3 girls and then 2 boys.
One thing that I personally have used and many friends of mine of used is a homeopathic tonic called "WELCOME WOMB". My midwife perscribes it for women in threatened miscarriage and to use if you have problems getting/staying preganant. here is a link...http://www.1cascade.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=2860
this mixture of different herbs helps to make the womb a VERY VERY HAPPY PLACE. Strong and nutrient, balancing out hormones and stabalizing the womb. I had a threatened mc with my third dd and went on this and it did help to restore my body back to a normal state and from then on I had a normal pregnancy. I have several friends who have had issues getting pregnant who used this to help their womb be happy and it helped them to go on and have children. I also had a friend who bled her entire pregnacys but was able to keep her babies in till term with the help of this tincture.
However WELCOME WOMB can not help if the reasoning for the mc is because of deficientcies in the fertile egg. So chromosone problems and such.
It is a tough thing to go through whether it is just a threatened mc or a full mc. I will have you in my prayers.
I also wanted to say that there is an actual science in having boys vs girls. After having three girls in a row we did our research and found the "boy formula" haha- it is not rocket science- hehe- but there is some science in it. If you want more info just let me know and I will send you a msg on it. If-and hopefully!- this pg of yours keeps I can atleast give you your odds of which one based on a few small details. If this pg doesn't and you and your hubby do try again then it would be good info for you to have.
Again I hope all works out well for you.
One more thing- if you do end up with a "Glory Baby" this song will help...

Hey mama, first, relax. Miscarriages occur in a surprisingly high number of pregnancies, and most of the time it's just "bad luck". I lost my first pregnancy and went on to have a perfectly normal, uneventful pregnancy with my 2 year old daughter. A loss as early as the one you *may* be experiencing is usually a result of chromosomal abnormalities - please do not blame yourself!
I wish I could give you a big hug; having experienced three losses myself I know your pain -- it doesn't matter how early the "loss" occurs, it still hurts. Your chances of having a "sticky" pregnancy are very high.
I think you may be able to me via private message if you need to talk/vent, whatever.

I have been through this myself. I actually had a stillborn daughter at 35 weeks and 2 miscarriages one at 5 weeks and one at 10 weejs, Every time I experienced a loss I felt just like you. Not sure if I could do it again and take that chance of feeling that heartbreak. Thank goodness I found the strength to try once more. The fourth time I finally had a healthy boy. All I can tell you is that it will be difficult if the news is bad but you can find the strength to try again. In may take time or it may not but just look inside yourself and know that women are strong and we can conquer anything we set our minds too! On a positive note although my bleeding always meant a loss I did have a friend that had some bleeding for the first 10 weeks of pregnancy and her baby turned out just fine. Her bleeding was not quit as much as a period but a little more than spotting and it was off an on through the first trimester.

I'm sorry to hear that. I had a miscarriage and didn't know. When I went for my 1st trimester screening when the nurse did the ultrasound there was no heart beat. My husband and I just lost it in the doctor's office. We were so shock. I was suppose to be 11 wks but the baby was measuring 8 wks. I didn't have any symptons of a miscarriage. I still can't believe my baby was dead for 3 wks inside me and I didn't know. The doctor said we can try again in 2 months. I have 2 daughters 1 sixteen and other six. The six year old is by husband. We really wanted to have another baby hoping for a boy. As for you trying again if your doctor gave you the okay. Then go for it. I believe that God do all things for a reason. All you have to do is pray and God will continue to help you. My husband and I will try one more time. I wish you look if you decide to try again. Don't be scared just let God do his work and leave it in his hands.
