I agree with Cindy. Keep the potty out, but don't do anything else at this point other than follow his lead. Both of my boys showed an interest in the potty LONG before they were really ready. Congratulations on your new baby!
We introduced a potty chair about a month ago. My son was really excited about it & seems to understand the concept since he pooped in his diaper sitting on the potty box before we opened the package. A week or so later, I made the mistake of asking him to sit on it when he had a rash that was still sensitive. He now associates the potty with discomfort. What should I do now? Put it back away for a couple months & start over?
Also, any tips for potty training while I work? I have 2 different caregivers coming to my house while I work from home during the week, so it will be a challenge to train consistently.

first of all, i agree that he's still very young. it could be another 2 years before he's completely done. just saying. second, whatever you decide to do, let the caregivers help out in a major way. stay on the same page as them. if they work against you, it makes your job harder. work with them.
At 21 months, I think he is way too young for potty training. Leave the potty out in the bathroom, but don't mention it at all. Start training when he is interested.
At that age it's more about having the potty around and talking about it. Really just getting him comfortable with it. Be patient. REALLY patient. I waited until my kiddo pretty much just said it was time (38 months) and we didn't have any of the accidents and issues so many of my friends who "potty trained" early did.
Give him some time, he is still so young. 21 months is really young for potty training, especially with a boy. He'll start showing signs when he is ready. I'd keep the potty out and available, but not push the issue at all. He'll let you know when it's time.
Good luck!
