Potty Training - Savannah,GA

You might want to talk to the daycare and see what protocol they follow to assist with potty training. I had my son in a mmo 2 days a week and when he was there he went backwards he wanted to wear a pull up he was 3 just a little over and honestly I think it's easier for them for just change him then deal with taking him or sending him to the potty so I talked to the teacher and said hey look we're in this together and I need your help for re-enforecement with the potty. Sometimes my son just didn't want to take time out to potty having too much fun. I started him at 2 1/2 he was back and forth about it but he's now using the potty all the time. I wouldn't let it go past 3 yrs old I did with 2 of my children and it's harder to potty train then. It's also not good to hold urine. When we go to the potty at a public place I always reasure my youngest I will be with him you don't want them to not go to public places or it starts a whole cycle of other issues. Anyway I stopped buying pull ups for the mmo school and gave him and them no choice use pants. I'm glad I did they didn't want him to have a accident then. There are some preschools that at certain ages will not accept a child that is not potty trained even at 3 yrs old the one I went to well, they hope by age 4 the child is potty trained. My daughter went through the same thing, and ended up with a lot of urinary track infections. She absolutely refused to potty at daycare, or anywhere else but home. The more we tried to encourage her to go the less she would. We finally backed off and let her wear pull ups which helped a little bit, but she didn't get completely over it until we went on a family vacation. She didn't want to peepee in her pull up so she had to use a gas station potty. Eventually everything turned out fine. It also helped to have a fold up potty seat for her to use whenever she felt uncomfortable using an unfamiliar potty. Now she views gas station potties as an adventure:) Good luck, but don't worry too much. Your son will get through this :)

When I was potty training my first son he would do it one day and then act like he didnt know how the next, then when he did finally start going regularly he stopped having bowel movements. For some reason they were giving him more problem when he sat on the potty that in the diaper and the doctor end up prescribing an enema a couple of times to prevent him from getting sick, after that he does fine.Maybe he's not going b/c of not wanting to go at the daycare or b/c he doesnt feel confortable not having mommy there, especially when he's just learning. When my 4 yr old has to go potty and were out of the house he ask if the toilets are clean and if anyone will be in there, so when we go to public places sometimes he will say "Never mind, I don't have to go", if he is scared or nervous about the bathroom so sometimes I try to reasure him I'll be right there keeping an eye out and helping.I say just lay off trying to potty train him right now and try and let him feel comfortable with the kids and daycare provider and allowing him to wear pull-ups until he can adjust.

Im sorry that you are going through that. I am in the process of trying to potty train my 20mth old. As far as your little problem...Have you tried talking to the Daycare provider so maybe they can monitor his response a little better? Maybe the separation from you and the change is making him uneasy..Do you have any advice for potty training? Hope everything works out for you..
