Potty Training Guru

Has anyone heard of the "potty training guru" in San Francisco? I can't remember her name.. Julie something....
She has a training course that teaches babies to be potty trained within just 3 days. Tons of reviews swear by it, but I had a question about the night time and nap time training....

What do you do for those times? Do you put a diaper on them? Or let them soil their crib? Any tips or suggestions that helped any of you?

What can I do next?

Lora Jensen has an e-book called the "Three day potty training"... something or the other. It worked like a charm for my little girl who potty trained in 4 days at 30 months old. We did it over the Easter long weekend because she is in daycare full time (40 hrs a week.) I highly recommend it.

My son has been potty trained since November and it really only took a weekend. We just put him in underwear and that was that. We took a couple changes of clothes and plastic bags with us while we were out. We asked him every 30 mins if he needed to go potty. He had 2 accidents the first day and 1 accident on each of the next 3 days. After the first week we didn't need to remind him anymore.

We've just started letting him nap in underwear but bedtime he still wears a diaper. We've tried putting him to bed in underwear but end up changing sheets, jammies and wiping him down at some point overnight. Sometimes he wakes up dry, other times he doesn't. He's not ready for that, and I'm fine with it. Our plan is that when he goes an entire week of waking up dry, we will try again.

Also, you mention crib...having your child in a bed would make it easier for them to go to the bathroom because they can get up and go on their own.

I have heard of that but I think potty training should be a more organic process. Once my daughter was showing signs of being ready (the most important thing for potty training!!!) I let her run around naked for a weekend (and removed our rugs!) It is easier for them to feel when they have to go if they are not wearing anything. After just one or two accidents she had pretty much mastered the potty when she was naked. Then we graduated to underwear. She wears underwear if she naps. It's been two years since she has been potty trained but still wears diapers at night. If your child is still in a crib then you really have to keep a diaper on her since she doesn't have the ability to get up and go to the potty. Good luck!

dont know anything about a potty training guru, but i do know what worked with my sister, when i was potty training her. when she was about a year old, i bought a calender and marked the date that she would turn 18 months old, and told her that i would be introducing her to a potty in about six months, and then i marked off the days on the calender, and then when she turned 18 months old, i went out and bought her a potty and some "how to use the potty" books, and told her that big girls use the potty, babies dont. and you are a big girl now, so i am going to help you learn how to use the potty. no tears, no stress, and by the time she was two, she was completely potty trained, with no accidents.

I'm getting a disconnect between a baby in a crib that is being potty trained-they have to have the ability to get to the potty and go-perhaps a youth bed that is low to the floor and has a railing would help foster a little independence and facilitate training? Was the guru's name Lora Jensen?

Not sure who the "potty guru" is, but I can tell you what worked for us. Around age two I started my boys (who are 3 and 4 now). I bought pull-ups and tried to do the potty thing while wearing those, but when they learned they could still go in their pants, I went to straight underwear. The first day or two I had to watch them like a hawk. They did wear the pull-ups for naps and night time. The potty stayed in the living room or which ever room we were in. It took our oldest 3 days to get it during the day and a week to get it at night. Our second took a little longer, but he got it during the day way faster than at night. I weaned the pull ups at night b/c he wouldn't get up to go in the morning. Our third son is 6 month and I plan to do the same thing w/ him. The best thing is when you start, don't stop. Have a set plan in your head on how you want to work things and go w/ it. Give your little a potty he can just play w/, you know check it. You can show him how its suppose to work (place him on it w/ his cloth on at first type deal). Hope this helps. Also always make sure they go before they lay down. We bought pads to put under them when they slept for naps and bed time.
