Potty Training Question??

We used the potty training in three days method & it worked wonderfully! Of course there were a few accidents at the beginning - but none by the third day!

Yes, we used every tool out there! Our daughter is two as well; will be 2 1/2 in June and is pottytrained (except in a pull-up during the night). My husband was ready to get her out of diapers I think as soon as she was born. He got her a potty elmo doll that she played with as early as she was into dolls and elmo. Also, we had books galore that talked about the potty; and videos. I called in potty 101 for a while. I wasn't ready to potty train officially until she was maybe 2 years and one month. We had a baby when she was 18 months and I wasn't ready to commit to it at that point. Everyone definetely needs to be ready b/c it is a lot of work. All of that prep really helped to introduce the concept really helped prepare her as well. She knew the words, etc. Once we were ready we tossed the pullups and bought the plastic underwear. She had quite a few accidents at first; however, by the 4th week she was doing really well. Now she rarely has an accident. Good luck!!

I used the reward chart for my daughter. You can make it yourself. Just draw a chart on a piece of card stock paper and use star stickers or her stickers of her favorite cartoon character (i.e. spongebob, dora, blue) and give her a sticker to put on the chart each time she goes pee pee in the potty (let her put the sticker on the chart to get her involved). Then after she gets 5 stickers in a row give her a reward like a treat or a little toy. Be sure to explain the potty chart to her before starting. This really worked with my daughter, I taped the chart to the bathroom door where it was easily visible to her. She couldn't wait to put a sticker on it so she would even go sit on the toilet when she didn't have to go. This will get her used to sitting on the potty as well. Of course she doensn't get a sticker unless she goes. I hope this helps. Good LUCK!

it's a beginning to a process, but no it doesn't happen in one day. i read that book and about laughed till i peed from the advice. no it doesn't work by itself. time and patience, especially with a 2 yr old, is what works.

I think it will take a couple weeks for sure, and then some accidents, but let her hear you go when she is setting on her chair, and ask her to be real quiet and see if she can hear her pee pee. Of course make a great deal of it the first time she goes, and take her everytime you go, and maybe in-between. I gave out raisens to reward the first few times.

A good friend used the book and the doll with her 2 yr old son, and he had some accidents for a few weeks, but it really worked. We're in the process of ordering the same doll she used and the book to try it with our 3 yr old son who has pretty much been resistant to everything else. Good luck!

I think every child is different and just be ready to accept if your child doesn't "do" the process in one day.

But, I did try the book and YES it did work in one day. Unfortunately, 4 days later my daughter started having accidents and I just caved and wish I'd kept her on the program but I put her back in diapers. BUT the program was working and I think if you try it and it works for you, keep it up and don't go backwards because you'll be kicking yourself!

One thing to remember: when you try this program, you have to have a COMPLETELy free schedule. You can't plan to go anywhere or talk on the phone or run to the store or sit & watch tv, etc. Basically you will have eagle eyes on your daughter the whole day. And, this is a time when (I believe) it's okay to give her sweet drinks like kool-aid and chocolate milk because it will encourage her to drink, which will in turn encourage her to use the potty. You can even use the sweet drinks as a reward for using the potty!

Good luck and read the WHOLE book before getting started.
