Ok i know this is going to sound weird BUT i am 33weeks along with my 4th child,I was induced with my other 3 so never had to deal with "natural" labor.I just found out that i am VERY dehydrated,as bad as it can get i guess and have been having some contractions on and off and then today I had some bloody discharge (bloody show?)Just wondering if this means that labor is close for me?I have googled some stuff and everything i have read says bloody show and within 3days labor usually starts. They put me on bed rest but didnt have me go to the hospital so not really sure whats going on :( Any opinions would be great :) thanks!

What can I do next?

I was induced as well...but I had my bloody show 2 weeks before I was induced . And I had mine at my dr's office and he had to tell me what it was lol.

I lost my mucus plug/had bloody show at least 2 weeks before my first was born (because my dr intentionally tried stripping my membranes without my knowledge but that's another story) so the baby coming in 3 days is not a given. Drink lots to get rehydrated and rest. 36 is the magic minimum number of weeks you want to carry if you can. Best of luck!

I'm guessing your dr knows about the bleeding (if not, be sure to call him even in the middle of the night), but I've always heard that bloody show means baby is a coming!! Dehydration can cause contractions, and between that and the blood it sounds like it may be. Good luck!!!

Not necessarily. It does mean you are close, but may not mean 3 days. It could be tonight or it could be 2 weeks away or longer. For me it was well over a week. The other thing is that I had braxton hicks contractions for 2 months before. When I got my real contractions, they felt COMPLETELY different! They were STRONG and felt like a different thing all together. I thought I was having some massive gas or cramp kind of thing. I was awakened by them, so it's not like I was up when they started. When they say "You'll know" you really will. It's all a guess up until then.
However, again, it is somehow soon. Sooner or later, but soon in the grand scheme of things. So get your stuff ready for the hospital and just be ready. It could come at any time and you ARE in the home stretch.

My time line looked like this:

33 weeks: bloody show (Saturday)
Called doc & he said no worries.

34 weeks (Next Saturday): Started light contractions & dialated to 2cm. Dehydrated a tiny bit. Got IV hydration. Spent night in hospital.

34 weeks & 1 day (Sunday): Went home from hospital feeling good. No more harsh contractions.

34 weeks & 2 days (Monday): Water broke at 7am. Had the baby 2:30 that afternoon. She was a healthy 9 pound baby (no gestational diabetes...just big kid). No breathing trouble. She was almost 6 weeks early. They did the blood tests to confirm this. It wasn't just that they had our dates wrong. But she was healthy as a baby horse! :)

I hope this helps! Good luck & congrats!!!

i haven't read the other answers but dehydration can/will lead to labor. I'm not sure what you have done about it but I would suggest drinking a LOT of fluids as rehydrating yourself can help put off early labor (caused by dehydration).
