My 6 year old daughter has just been referred to a pediatric endocrinologist for precocious puberty. Has anyone else been through this?

What can I do next?

Hi C.,
I think precous puberty is the early onset of puberty, right? I'm going to answer assuming this is what you are saying.
I have not been through this but I did study it. Her diet may well be a huge factor in this. The offenders are the hormones found in her milk and meats (eggs too).
Can't offer any advice except really inspect her diet and see that she sticks to a good one.(chemical & hormone free foods)

I don't know of anyone that has had it, but I do know that they treat it by providing hormones to delay the onset of puberty. My boys go to Dr. DeClue at St. Joseph's Childrens hospital for other endocrine issues. I highly recommend him and his parter Dr. Lin. We have been going there almost 5 years. Good luck!

I knew a 10 year old who had it. She was just more developed than the other 10 year olds. She had her period, had larger breasts than her peers and needed deodorant. She was a very sweet and responsible girl. Other than that, I don't know much more.

Hi C., I just wanted to let you know that all this fuss about plastics lately has to do with a chemical that causes cancer by producing estrogen precursors which are highly toxic to our little ones. If you are using any #7 plastics (shown in the recycling symbol under bottles, jars etc) get rid of them. Also take care not to heat up (microwave , dishwash) any plastic bowls or cups you might have (any # plastic). Good luck!!!
