When I was three months pregnant I felt a horrible cramp and felt like i needed to push, so i went to the bathroom and blood just gushed out me. I then went to my doctor and they told me 99% that I had lost the baby and ask if I wanted a DNC and I stated no. The doctor set a sonogram 2 days later, meanwhile i called all my family and let them know I had lost the baby. Very sad day and then we went to the sonogram and there was a heart beat, that heart beat is now my wonderful daughter ashley, what i am trying to say is there is hope and hang in there.

I had spotting and even blood flow, but no cramping, off and on for several weeks early in my last pregnancy. They had me on bed rest also. I had a healthy baby boy.

I cramped and spotted with both of my children. I was about 5 weeks with my 1st child, it happened on a Friday and the doctor told me to get bed rest that weekend, by Monday I was fine. With my second son who is now 2,I spotted around the 7th week. I just made sure I took it easy, kept my feet up and in a couple of days, it went away. I gave birth to 2 beautiful, healthy babies and had great pregnancies with both and so will your daughter!

I did this all 3 times I was pregnant and I have 3 beautiful children. I, however, did not do this until about 9-10 weeks. The problem was that I would get cysts on the outside of the uterus and they would burst. It would not harm the baby, just pain and bleeding for me. I did not really spot, I would bleed pretty heavily for about 1 day or so and then back to "normal" until the next episode. I would have to do the bed rest and stay off of my feet thing for about 3-4 days each time.
Has she been to her Dr. yet? I would have to have ultrasounds and saunagrams (not sure of the spelling) to make sure the baby was okay.
I do hope she is doing well and this will pass and the baby will grow to be happy and healthy!

YES! It is possible that she will still have a healthy baby in 7.5 months. I have friends start off with spotting, at least, every time.

She needs to keep an eye on things; make sure she is taking her prenatals, eating properly (see blueribbonbaby.org for hints & tips!), and getting enough liquids. Dehydration can cause contractions (which is what the cramps are). Rest won't hurt, either.

God bless you, and may He grant that this blessing lives for many long years!

Yes i been through it three times. It is normal to cramp and spot a little in the beginning stages of pregnancy. This usually happens because the uterus is stretching to make room for the baby.

When I was pregnant with DD, I never bled or spotted. I had 2 miscarriages, and the birth of my son after that, and I had bleeding with all 3. One of the miscarriages, I bled a lot but had no cramps. The other one, I had lots of cramps but very little bleeding. One was at 8 weeks, and one at 12. Then, when I was pregnant with DS, I had bleeding and thought I was going to lose him as well, but it stopped after about a day or two, and everything was fine from then on.

I spotted and cramped in my eleventh week with my daughter that is now 8. It didn't last long. We went to the doctor and heard the heartbeat for the first time. I was under lots of stress at work that day.......I don't know if that had anything to do with it. Every situation is unique. I pray that she has a good outcome.

I work at a hospital, in the admissions office and I see this regularly. I have also had a friend that did the spotting thing throughout the first trimester, and everything is fine with her so far. It is alot more common than you would think. I have seen many women come in with this problem and most of them went on and carried baby full term and everything was just fine.
Best of luck to you and your daughter.

I am the mother of two boys, ages 9 and 5. I bled with both of my pregnancies. With my first child, I spotted one day for about half and hour. I went for an ultrasound, and found everything to be fine. With my second child, I started bleeding around my 6th week of pregnancy, and it continued through my 10th or 11th week. The second time, I would bleed off and on, and I never knew when it would start or stop. Again, I had an ultrasound and everything was fine. With each pregnancy the doctor (actually, there were two different doctors), said it was "implantation" bleeding, and that I may bleed throughout the course of the pregnancy. I recommend that your daughter go for a transvaginal ultrasound, if she has not already had one. Good luck!!!

I had the same problems you're describing. It's a terrifying feeling, especially when you want a positive outcome so badly. Fortunately, the bed rest/doctor's care option worked for me - my "baby" is now a healthy 11-year-old boy. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Hello S.,

Please, don't feel hopeless. As you have read, these things could be nothing, or it could very well be something. Take her to the doctor and do it NOW. Be on the safe side. That is the best help you can give her, as well as put both your minds at ease.

Guessing and wondering won't do it. I'm sure it will turn out fine but take precaution and GO!!

All the best.

Sincerely_________

Although when a miscarriage happens to someone you love, it is devastating. However, about 25% of all pregnancies end within the first two months of being pregnant. "We" want to know so quickly -- and our pregnancy tests have become so responsive to being pregnant only a few days -- Back in the "old" days, we thought we were just having a heavier period than normal....

Please just give your daughter a lot of support. There are so many reasons there are spontaneous miscarriages - and sometimes, if this is occurring at six weeks pregnant, then the fetus may not be attached firmly to the uterine wall (and can't be sustained for 9 months), genetic reasons, or several other causes.

I know several friends who have had miscarriages and when they tried the second time, they waited after six weeks to tell their friends, AND they had wonderful pregnancies.

I miscarried at 15 weeks and obviously remember the whole thing. It wasn't meant to be ..... but my faith and support has helped me.

God bless you and your family. It IS a diffiult time and some depression may set in but I'm sure God knows what's happening!

I hope the bed rest works.....

I did this with our 1st child at about 5-6 weeks also. My spotting was so heavy (and I had the cramps and felt bad) that I honestly would have thought I was having a period and not pregnant if I had not already been to a dr. and had a pregnancy test confirmed positive. I stayed off feet for a few days and it got lighter over that time but didn't stop until another day or two had passed. He was born 2 weeks late at the end of the 9 months, heathly as can be, weighing 8 lb. 10 ozs. and has remained in the top 20 of his class for the past several years. They did an early sonogram to confirm his vitals were strong and that everything looked as normal as they could tell at that point ... he was GREAT!

I'm sorry she is having to go through this. I don't know what the outcome may be but I can tell you what I went through with my second pregnancy. I had to have five ultrasounds to make sure he was okay.

The spotting can be from vessels breaking on the uterus. The cramping unless it's really bad can be attributed to the uterus expanding. I felt crampy a lot during the entire pregnany because of this.

Has her doctor said anything? I will pray for your daughter that she does well and gets through this. If your daughter is miscarrying she will need a lot of support. I made it through mine with my faith and God's will. I truly believe in HIS decisions. With all of that said, you still have a lot of emotions to go through and she will need someone to talk to and that is where you can be the biggest help. I will pray for you too because I can only imagine how hard it must be as mother and not be able to fix the situation.

God Bless you and your daughter.

We did not know we were pregnant when this happened and were wonderfully surprised to find out we were. My doctor put me on a medication for the next couple of weeks and things worked out fine. Our son nicholas is now 6. It was my first pregnancy also and it did not happen with the other two. I will be thinking of you and good luck.

Unfortunately this early in the game there is not too much you can do other than....plenty of rest, lots of fluids, and prop her feet up. If she is truely trying to abort, not much can be done because she is so early in the pregancy. You can take her to the doctor...sometimes they can detect a heartbeat this early. If the cramping is on her sides...may be a tubular pregancy and in that case...something will medically be done. Take her to the doctor to be sure. Hope this helps...I myself had a miscarriage about 2 years ago and also have worked NICU for the past 5 years.
