Pregnancy 3 Months Postpartum!

I am afraid I might be pregnant again! I have a 25 month old son and an almost 4 month old son. I was upset when I got pregnant immediately after weaning William because I thought it was too soon. That time I never even had a period but this time I have had a couple periods because Jackson can't breastfeed and I have been exclusively pumping and I have had to supplement. The thing is I have had major trouble with my milk supply due to stress since I am so upset that Jack can't breastfeed and I have only ever made at most a 1/2 Oz of BM at a time and so I have had sparatic bleeding and crazy hormones - so its hard to know whats going on. We have been using condoms. But I guess it could have happened anyway with premature ejaculation? We did do it once without protection, but I have had what I think was a period since then; of course, I can't be sure since I have been taking all these herbs to up my supply and pumping and having such sparadic bleeding - who knows when I actually ovulated?? And I had implantation bleeding with both my previous pergnancies. I feel SOOOOO pregnant! I have had sypotoms for over two weeks now. I bled only three weeks ago so I am waiting to test until I go to the doc for an appointment this Friday (I figure I might as well take advantage of the appointment to get a accurate test done). Has anyone gotten pregnant back to back like this? What are the symptoms like? I am so nervous because I had C-sections and I am sure the doc will not allow a VBAC this time (although I am going to try) and that will mean another c-section, so thats 3 sections in 3 years, scary!! And how can I give enough time to my babies? I was a wreck when I got home from this past c-section and I couldn't care for and play with my first born like he needed me to - it broke my heart and I had a really hard time with it. I wonder how I will handle it if I have a one year old to care for, oh my! I am excited and I do hope I am, this will give me another chance to breastfeed so thats nice - but I do wish it was not so soon!

What can I do next?

Calm down a bit...I know it can be overwhelming but think about it longer term - built in playmates :) Your kiddos won't be lonely - ha! My 2 kids under 3 are 15 mos apart (and we got pregnant 2 mos after our wedding with the first) so things have been a rush here as well. I had a C-section with the 2nd (as did you) and my ob/gyn HIGHLY suggested we wait to have another for 12-18 mos (just to get prego) if I wanted to do a VBAC. My doc is supportive of a VBAC b/c my 1st came out no problems -- little boy (2nd) had a 8" umbilical cord and couldn't make the exit...he is great- no worries. I know people who have done VBACs sooner so you really need to talk to your doc and find out your hospital's policy as well (some docs and hospitals do not allow them as a matter of course due to malpractice insurance -- makes the births higher risk).

Be happy- there are many women that would love to be a fertile myrtle - a blessing and a curse :) Yes, it will be difficult but not impossible. Just focus on your little ones you have now and take a test in a week or so.

Condoms aren't fool-proof, especially if not used all the time and appropriately. The fail rate when used properly is quite low (breakage) but if not used properly, it skyrockets! We are planning #3 very soon and would love to be blessed with 5!

Best wishes!

Take a breath dear! I had my oldest daughter at 17 turned around and 4 months later got pregnant with my second daughter. They are only 12 months and 20 days (to be exacat) apart. I had a c section with both and they are just fine I spend time with each and spend time with both. My oldest LOVES her little sister more then anything. Relax you will be fine and I am attempting a VBA2C next year bc me and my husband want our kids close. We are trying in dec... If you are you will be fine... however saying you hope you are bc you can BF feels funny. You should want be happy regardless if you can BF! I can't BF I am one of the few who WILL not produce milk. I tried everything and NO milk. Just be happy about the baby and not another chance to BF. I am also one of the few birth control will not work on (we use condoms). If you are everything will work out! I didn't want another so soon but I enjoy every minute of both my children even if they are only 12 months and 20 days apart! Good luck and btw I wasn't being mean or anything I just feel you should love the chance of bringing another child into the world regardless if you can BF. Again Good luck --------Ash =)

Hi, if you have a hard time breastfeeding you can try a nipple shield so your baby can latch on easier, i had to use it for my two children and it really did the job, for my first child i had to use it the whole 6 mo i breast fed her but for my second child (a boy) i only had to use it for about 1-2 months and after that he was stronger and could latch on without the shield, to see the shield go to wikipedia and search on "nipple shield breastfeeding" or go here:

Hi. Our boys are 1yr and 2 weeks apart. Which means I got pregnant around the time our first was 3-4 monthes old. I wasn't able to breastfeed our second b/c he just wouldn't take at all, no matter what I tried. So I had to pump like you, we also had to supplement too. And trying to pump and watch a toddler who was just learning how to actually walk good was just so much for me, plus our 2nd was/is the attention on me kid. It was a rough time till they were old enough to interact w/ each other. I know I stressed alot, but when I was able to get them to nap or sleep at the same time, just watching them made it all worth while. Our boys are soon to be 3 and 4 (march 21 and april 3) and we are expecting our third son come July. I know its scary to have children so close together (if u r pregnant), but it can be done. :) Keep ur head up high, try not to stress over little things (better said than done I know), and enjoy the ride. Good Luck Momma! I'm sure you"ll do great either way! <3

hi danielle, you sound way excited and scared and boingy! for starters, i wouldn't go too far into 'what if land' before you know. i'm sure you're aware that part of this frantic worry is due to your 'crazy hormones.' it's certainly possible that you're preggo and all of these questions will need to be addressed, but right now you're getting all worked up over something that may well not be anything at all. take a deep breath. you're so worried about not having time to give babies in the future! just smile and enjoy the two you've got now. i hope you get to have a VBAC next time (it might indeed be too soon for it if you are preg now), but even if you have a C-section you'll be fine and your babies will be fine and survive the time you need to recover, i promise you.
go for a walk in the beautiful spring day with your babies, and relax.
