You'll be fine. I was pregnant just 8 weeks after my second c-section. My doctor laughed at me. This was obviously not a planned pregnancy, but everything was fine. You most likely won't be able to try a VBAC because it won't be safe since your uterus didn't have long to heal. There is nothing to worry about though. Chances of having any problems are small. If you haven't been to your OB yet, you should probably get an appt pretty soon, and remind them that your baby is only 8 months old. :) Congratulations!!!

Congrats!!!!! My little guy was 8mons when I got pregnant again as well. I didn't have a c-section, but they say your body is recovered after 8wks so you should be fine. Enjoy the pregnancy..the real work begins after 'baby' is born. The first 6wks were the hardest, but it does get a lot better. Good luck!!!!

Hi J.,
I got pregnant a year after my first son was born through c-section and my OBGyn wasn't happy about it. I got through my second pregnancy very well and had another successful c-section.
I would think it is a little early, at 8 months after a c-section but since you are already pregnant, ask your OBGyn the best way to carry your pregnancy.
Congrats and Good luck.
L..

My son was only 7 months when we got pregnant this time. My first 2 children were natural, but the last one was c-section because he was breech. I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant again. The Dr has said that everything looks good and I should be able to try V-BAC!!! They'll most likely watch you a little closer, but you should be fine!!!

I did it and survived! sort of LOL!!! But you'd have to check with your OBGYN to be sure. Everyone is different.

J.,

Just one more vote of confidence for you - I got pregnant 6 months after a C-section and went VBAC. Talk to you doctor about birthing options, but don't be afraid to try vaginal if you want.

It is a little crazy to have two in diapers, but mine are 19 & 20 yrs old, so I promise you that you will survive!!

Try to enjoy :)

I had 5 kids. The first 2 (2 single children) were only 11 months apart. Both born in the same year! The last 3 (a single child and then twins) were only 13 months apart.

As long as your doctor is not concerned, you shouldn't be either.

The hardest part comes after the second child is born....you have a toddler and a baby to take care of! Good luck to you!

As long as your incision healed right and didn't have problems with your c-section then you should be fine. All three of my children were c-section. My first child was only 6 mths old when got pregnant with second one. My ob doctor was upset only because I didn't heal all the way from first one. Didn't give my body time to heal. All my children ok and healthy. The only problem I have is after 9 yrs I still get tender around incision after excercising. Sometimes still have numbing feeling to.Hope that helps you relax. Enjoy the babies they grow to fast.
My oldest almost 13 my other is 12 next year and youngest 9.

I have twins and a baby 17 months apart - all via c-section. All was fine, the pregnancy went 38 weeks (despite the first two being born at 33 weeks; more common with multiples). However, I did have more round ligament pain than others may due to the close proximity of the pregnancies. I also had a "window" discovered during the second c-section...the OB could see the amniotic sac through my uterus without making an incision. This is dangerous and could have lead to uteran rupture had I labored longer and/or attempted a v-bac. So, bottom line is that you may have more discomfort during the pregnancy, get to the doctor/hospital as soon as possible if you begin labor, and definitely have a c-section. You'll be fine. Good luck!

Congrats J.!!!
It is safe or the OB would tell you.
When I was doing preschool, I had 2 girls in the class, I thought they must be twins, mom said not. I thought she must know and checked the records, the younger one was born later the same year. I met a gal with 3 kids in her cart, thought they can't be triplets but wow. Learned by then to say "How old are they?" not are they twins, triplets whatever.
She said the twins are 14 months and he is my big guy at 22 months. The twins came early as they usually do. So they were all 3, one year old. don't know if they were c-section but fun stories to tell, and hopefully it gave you a smile to read about other mom's in similar situations.
My kids were spaced but all c-section. After my first OB said be sure to let me check you before you decide to have another in 2 or 3 years. I did,
God bless you
K. -- SAHM married 38 years --- adult spaced children are 37, 33, and twins 19 today.

Congrats! I know it can be a bit shocking. My first two are only 12 months apart. So I was pregnant when the oldest was only 3 months old. My first two were vaginal births and the third was a c-section. It took my body over 1 1/2 years to recover from the abdominal pain and still on occasion almost 4 years later (next month) I still do. At 8 months after the 3rd I still had pain every day. Just be prepared for the your pregnant AGAIN comments from everyone. I had no family support, just know that the first year will be very very hard. I had two kids home alone all day and night since my husband worked until about 11pm every night and the second one had collic very bad. Hang in there. My kids are best frinds and have always done everything together. We treat them as the same age and that worked well. I had them on the same schedule from eating to diapers to baths to naps or else I could never remember who I did last and when. Even if they got changed not long ago, they go checked again. It was the only thing that kept me somewhat sane. Good luck

Hey J.,

LOL No you won't pop.LOL

Your cute.

Its perfectly safe, I was pregnant again after 6 months.

Its tiring but in some ways its easier, especially if you have 2 boys like i did,

They play together, I save on clothes , they share toys and potty trained together.

Yes its alot of work, but worth it.

I Also ended up using cloth diapers to save money and time.

I used a re useable prefold insert instead of buying them.

I think that is a question best left to the doctor taking care of you. Enjoy your new little addition as they will be so close to each other they won't remember life without each other. Mine are 21 months apart and adore each other even some 40 odd years later, lol.

Hi J., you're not alone :) I'm in the same situation :)

I'm less than two weeks away from my c-section date for my second child, and my first just turned one year old (who was born by c-section). So....about 3 months after I gave birth, I was pregnant with #2, so yes it is possible, and "safe" (not that there is much you can do about already being pregnant, right?).

My body has gone through the ringer this second time around, so just be prepared that it isn't easy. I will be having a c-section the second time around because they had to make a vertical cut to get the baby out. I don't mind though...at least I know what to expect and I won't be in hours of labor. I am exhausted though, and have had SPD and I'm just miserable and can't wait for it all to be over.

Good luck with pregnancy #2, no matter how you decide to deliver. I'm sure you'll do fine.

J.,
Good luck! Congratulations! I hope all goes well.

About the only thing I can tell you is: some hospitals have dissolvable staples now. I understand they make life MUCH easier.

If you haven't stopped nursing your 8 month old - you don't have to. Check with La Leche League on ideas and advice for nursing your older baby through, if you are interested in continuing that wonderful benefit for your baby.

As far as safe, your OB will let you know if they need to keep an eye on you. If you have switched OB's, or don't have one, inform the one you do go see.

Good luck, and hope all continues well for you!
