Hormonal acne. Oh, the joy. I used to brag about never having had acne as a teenager, and them karma caught up with me. LOL
After about a year of spending way too much at the beauty counters for products that didn't work, I ended up getting light therapy and cleansing facials at the spa. You can also have extractions done if needed. That really is the most effective way to treat the acne. There is a prescription for acne, but it causes birth defects and all kinds of other yucky side effects.
My doctor did tell me that stress can make it worse, so you could say the spa appointment was a double treatment. I get it done about twice a year, and that's still less expensive than all the money I wasted on ineffective overpriced products at the department stores.
If you're using anything other than mineral based make-up, throw it out. Doesn't matter if you buy the Jane Iredale, or the Physician's Formula, stick with minerals and you won't regret it.
H2O carries a good line of skin care products, but they can get a little pricey. Proactive is another very effective product, but it's time consuming and does contain a lot of chemicals
The best drugstore brand products I've used are Oil of Olay, which has done a better job than Clinique. Remember to use gentle cleansers, mild toners, and light moisturizers. Overcleansing or scrubbing irritates the skin and can actually make the acne worse. You want to calm and soothe your face, not stimulate it.
Just cleanse once in the morning, apply your toner, and moisturize. Then repeat the same process at night. You may be self conscious, but try to avoid touching your face other than to do your beauty routine.
And if all else fails remember: bringing another life into the world is the most beautiful thing anyone can do. Just you focus on that bump in your belly, not the one on your face, and you'll be okay. Good luck!
