Yep! I happened 6 weeks after my Mom had my older brother AND he was a preemie born at 7 months. We are "twins" for 6 weeks and have a fairly close relationship. Mom wasn't too happy about it either.

Hi D.. You have had a lot of responses that have told you what you needed to know on here. I have to tell you though that reading your comment made me worry about other stuff for ya. Your request says that you are feeling hopeless and let me tell ya, we all know how that feels at some point or another. Please keep getting on here, especially if you do not have a great amount of support outside of here. You will make it through whatever you are going through, and you will be stronger for it. There is no greater love than the love between parent and child and it is amazing how even at my worst, my little boy can take away any bad feelings with his smile and "don't worry Mommy." Ok, I'm going to recommend first off that you ask why your doctor wants to intervene with an induction and what their c-section rate is. If he or she hems or haws on this or doesn't give you an answer that satisfies you, then DO NOT CONSENT! I got pushed into what I found out later to be "elective" c-sections because my doctor lied to me about it being an emergency. (Neither I nor the babies were in distress. First was "measuring large" and the second was 12 days past my ESTIMATED due date) I found out later that in both cases my doc had plans to go out of town and was more interested in the $ than mine or the baby's health. If your doctor wants to induce you are likely going to feel a lot of pressure to do what he wants. When you induce labor, it means that the baby is not finished growing and developing. This can lead to health issues down the road. Also, the most commonly used medicines in inductions have major side effects that are not widely discussed because of the money involved in the medical birth industry. Pitocin has been recently linked with Autism. Cytotec and Cervidil have an enormous rate of uterine rupture. All three interfere with the establishment of breastfeeding because you will be wanting anesthesia that then makes the baby groggy and pitocin interferes with the natural version of that hormone, oxytocin which is an integral part of the breastfeeding hormone cycle. As to what is going to happen from when you walk in the door to after you have the baby, it's called a cascade of interventions. You go in before you're in labor, you sign papers, go to a room where you get put on a monitor, get an IV, get an epidural. Now you're tied to the bed pretty much until you have the baby either vaginally or by emergency c-section. I've been told that even with an epidural sometimes you can feel the pitocin, that they don't give you an epidural right away, so you get the very hard unnatural contractions, and that they only give the baby so long before they do a c-section if the amniotic sac is ruptured. If you're planning on having more children, then you will have to practically beg for a VBAC, or vaginal birth after c-section, which isn't really popular with a lot of doctors and more and more hospitals do not allow. Remember that YOU are the one that gives consent and can fire your health care providers at any time, but once the interventions start, it's likely too late to make a difference if you're looking to have a natural or vaginal birth.

Well Duh hun...you can get pregnant the same way you did the first time...lol...I know several people who have kids 9 months apart.

The old wives tale is that you can't get pregnant if you are nursing...that is a BIG lie.

you can definitely get pregnant right after I got pregnant with #2 when my daughter was 2.5 months old. My daughter was born on 4/29/06 and my son on 4/1/07.
As far as being induced, I had to have Pitocin with both of mine. With my daughter I started labor on my own but needed help to progress and it definitely helped, total time start to finish was exactly 10 hours including pushing, (water broke on it's own which really started the labor). With my son my water broke the night before with no labor at all, no pain, so I had no choice but to be induced and it lasted from start to finish about 3.5 hours total including pushing.

It's interesting why you would ask that question.... Of course, it's possible. Usually, I see: "Can you get pregnant nursing a baby?" or "My husband has had a vasectomy and I'm pregnant again!"

However, if it's been several years and you've been trying, then it's time to go to your OB and have a chat. There may be many reasons why the second time around is harder -- and she/he can help you figure some of them out.

I was induced about a month ago with my daughter because I was a week past my due date. What they did to me was put a pill inside my vagina so that I would start dilating and contracting, They did that at 6 am after I had dilated to I think a 5 or a 6 they broke my water I did have an epidural and it made me finish dilating quicker, and at 830 pm I started pushing, when I started pushing they gave me Pitocin through an IV to strengthen my contractions and help me to push. I labored for 17 hrs and pushed for 3hrs. Being my first child I can't say whether the contractions were worse than if you go into labor on your own but I had back labor because my daughter was face up instead of face down. I think it depends on the person being induced. Good luck, Being induced isnt as bad as some people say it is I had a really good experience even though I was having severe back labor. I tried all the methods to induce myself at home such as sex and so on and for me none of them workes. As far as Castor Oil my Dr. said do not try that method it can cause the baby to have a bowel movement in utero and cause harm to the unborn child plus it gives you extreme diarhea which can cause you to dehydrate. The baby will come when it is time and if it needs a little help leave that to the doctors who know what they are doing

I've seen some of the responses of how they were induced and none were the way I was induced. I had an IV with pitossin to cause contractions (I was induced one day early b/c my dr was going out of town the for 3 days on my due date, and I wanted MY dr. to deliver) A couple hours later my dr. broke my water (which doesn't hurt at all) I delivered about 7 hours later. I prefer to wait until going into labor on my own, and I would recommend it. My dr. doens't induce often, he left the choice up to me, and he wouldn't induce with my 1st he said until I was more than a week past my due date. I know a lot of people induce so it will be more convienient for them or their dr. and I don't agree with that, but like I said I wanted my dr to deliver me, so I went ahead and was induced.

Yes to getting pregg right after I had a friend every time she turned around she was pregg 3 in a row wow as for induction I was induced w/my 1st n u go in get hooked up to a iv fill out your papers the you wait ... Till you start dialating they come in and check you off n on if u aint dialating they might send you home that's what the nurse told me she said it was rare to have someone not dialate with a high as they had the pitocin or something like that and since I wasn't dialating the were gonna send me home but my dr said no and popped my water and then then the pains came

You can get pregnant after having a baby. That why we need to be careful with sex after having that baby until you get on the pill or some form of birth control. Induce is no big deal with both of my girls I was induced because of blood pressure doing crazy things, and my girl's are 19 months apart.

i was induced both times with my children, on their due dates. it is a simple process. you get a suppository that softens the cervic and causes it to dilate, then the doctor will break the water then and then you are ready to go.. the body will take over from there. my first labor was 12 hours, the second 5 hours. it is nothing to worry about and safe for the baby. Both of my babies did not come before the due date so we went in at 5am and got started...

You did not say how old you are, so I said my child.
You can become pregnant each time you have intercourse.

The best thing you can do is see and speak to a doctor .

This is a great reponsibiliy but the most loving thing a mother and father is blessed with.

Yes - very much so. I was breast feeding my 2nd and didn't get on the one hormone pill fast enough and I got pregnant. They'll be 14 months apart. So after I have this one, I will defiantly be getting on the one hormone pill as soon as I can. ha!! How old is your baby now? It will be hard at first - having them so close together, but it will be fine and they'll be close. Good Luck to you and your family!!

Unless it is medically necessary, do not induce. Do the natural induction methods as people have listed, evening primrose oil, castor oil, sex, walking, strech out membranes, etc.

One out of 3 women will have a c-section which will lead to a future c-section if you live in a area that prohibits VBAC.

God created you to give birth and don't mess with the natural process.

You are actually MOST fertile in the first few weeks/months after delivering a child...so yes.

I've worked in the Ob/Gyn field for about 6 yrs and we've had a couple who end up pregnant again at their 6wk post partum visits...which is a no-no because you aren't supposed to have intercourse at all until after your 6wk pp.

It is actually better to be induced ( in my opinion) My daughter was induced with both of her children. I think it is actually better. You know the doctor will be there. Everything is already arranged for your delivery.

ok-first question- YES...It's possible to become IMMEDIATLEY pregnant after having a baby...we got pregnant w/ our second child as soon as the dr. gave us the go-ahead at the 6wkpp..OBVIOUSLY not on purpose-lol-but it happened.He put me on the patch at my 2wkpp,so,I had been on it for a month,and he told my hubby to wear a condom JUST IN CASE-we're the most fertile people in the world! The first was born 8/15/03,and the second was born 7/23/04...so, at his first b-day party, I had to keep stopping what I was doing to breastfeed a 1mt old...but, it really wasn't all that bad.They're so close,it's almost like they're twins.They're each others BF.I dunno what she's gonna do when we start him in kindergarten next year.
Second question: What do you mean,when they induce? The procedure? What is an induction? For me-I was induced w/ my second and third and will be induced w/ this one....With our first, I went into labor on my own at 36 1/2wks..whew!it was-horrible-lol-for lack of a better word-just all happened very fast and very painful.So, w/ the second, at 38 wks I BEGGED my dr. to induce me because it was sooo painful the first time, I DID NOT want our child to see my screaming like that in the car to wherever we were taking him when my water broke..lol..but, my dr. said don't worry about it, he would be fine and he wouldn't remember anything at all..but, then at my checkup the next week, I had gotten such a horrible UTI from the baby pressing down on my insides,that he said-well, I'm gonna have to induce you Friday morning,(this was a Tuesday,I think)because your water is not gonna break on it's own w/ the infection this bad and it can run a risk to the baby.It was soooo bad, that when he tried to check if I had dilated,I tried to come off the table when his hand touched the inside of my thigh!OWWWWWW....He gave me a shot of antibiotics,and I had to come back in on Thursday-the infection still wasn't gone and he wasn't able to check me;so,the next morning we checked in, I got the drip and IMMEDIATLEY got the epidural so that he could come and break my water-it was wonderful!She was born within 2 1/2 hrs...Our third- it was set up at 39wks-as it turns out,my body starts measuring full term (or over)at around 30-31wks..so, w/ every induction, it's been set up for a friday and my hubby can take off the day of the labor and then be off for the weekend while I'm in the hospital so he can be w/ the other kids-I'm out by Sunday at lunchtime,home,settled in and my hubby can go back to work on Monday.But, probably w/ this one,he'll have to take off an extra day or so since this will be our 4th and I'll be at home w/ 4children aged 5 all the way down to a newborn! Induction is THE WAY TO GO!!

I am going to guess that you mean immediately after having a baby, or while still breast-feeding or something of that sort, because I am sure that you would already know it is possible to get pregnant again after having a baby, or there wouldn't be anyone with more than one kid unless they were all twins or trips or something.

Yes, it is possible to get pregnant again even while breastfeeding, so don't let anyone tell you any different. It happens all of the time.

As for being induced, you would go to the hospital, they would insert something into your vagina that has medication on it, and some hours later you will begin to have contractions. You can choose to have an epidural (I recommend one, especially for a first-timer), and, depending upon your baby and your body, you might have the baby within several hours, or it could be the next day or possibly longer before you give birth. I was induced with my first one and ended up having to have a c-section two and a half days after I was induced. That is NOT typical, so don't worry.

Yes, you can even get pregnant the same month as having your baby, depending upon your period and if you didn't wait the recommended time before having sex again.

Please see your ob/gyn for your many options for birth control if you should still have any questions. He or she will know more about your own personal situation that those of us here.

Yes, but you are supposed to wait several weeks to heal before having sex again. If you are nursing, you are less likely, but it is not foolproof. You could still get pregnant.
