Pregnant?...or Not?

Ok so on Saturday morning, Saturday night, and Sunday morning I had three positive at home pregnancy tests. I went to the doctor today, Monday, and came back with a negative urine test. When I came home I took another test and it was negative. I have not had any bleeding to indicate a miscarriage at this point and the doctor wants me to go in for a blood test in a couple days. Have any of you experienced this? The doctor didn't seem concerned about a miscarriage but after reading online I feel like that is what's to come.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well I did end up having a miscarriage. Thank you everyone for your responses; they definitely helped me prepare mentally for what was to come.

I would say that it's a false positive.

Your HgH could've been higher at one point but it doesn't mean you were pregnant....especially if the test at the office and again at home were negative.

Don't stress over this... I know it's easier said than done - having been there and done that - but you can't change it...you can only accept it and move on...

I would wait for the blood test to see what your HgH level was/is...and go from there.

GOOD LUCK!!

It's possible that you had a false negative in the doctor's office or that you had false positives with a "chemical" pregnancy in that your body had enough hormones to think that it was pregnant but in actuality was not. Sometimes you can just spike your hormones. It doesn't mean miscarriage, but that your period will be a bit late.

A blood test and an ultrasound are really the only definitive ways to know.

I feel for people that have this situation come up. I would try and keep your mind as calm as possible until you can get the blood tests done.

My older sister had this happen to her the first time she was prego. She did end up loosing that pregnancy. I am not saying that is what will happen to you. It is just how her's turned out.

Hang in there mama. And remember we are here for you, whatever happens. I will be praying for you:)

That happened to me and the dr called it a chemical miscarriage. Not really a full one and if I had not been watching, I would of just thought I was a week late. Its is very common. I did have a very painful period that month. But I got pregnant with my 3rd child only a month and a half later!!

I would say you most likely had a false negative. I had three Positive tests at home. Went to a clinic and got a negative. The next day or two I had a positive test again. All test have a different sensitivity level. I would wait a day or two and try again to test.

I had that happen to my twice. My doctor called it a chemical pregnancy. I ended up getting my period a few days later. I can't remember the explanation she gave me. Something about the egg being fertilized but something is not right with it so it quickly dissipates. One doctor called a miscarriage and another one didn't. I guess since an embryo never formed. I also had 2 true miscarriages between the 2 chemical pregnancies and they did a bunch of tests to make sure nothing medical was causing the issues I was having. I had 1 successful pregnancies prior to this happening so we did not know the problem but all my test came back negative. So we tried some more with the help of acupuncture and I have another healthy 7month old!

Just remember that every person is different, and what you find in one Google search may have no bearing on your body.

Here's my question: Why the heck would the doc want you to wait for the blood test? I don't get it. When I've had a positive HPT, I've seen the doc almost immediately. At the OB, I've gotten a urine test, blood test and physical exam. At my current OB I've also gotten a transvaginal ultrasound.
