I am 14 weeks pregnant with my first child and am looking to start taking prenatal yoga classes. I have taken yoga in the past and love it. I live in Inwood in upper Manhattan and would love to take classes close to me, but am not opposed to travelling a little for a great class. Any suggestions?

So What Happened?

Thank you all so much for your suggestions! I started taking classes at the Prenatal Yoga Center on the upper west side and its a perfect fit for me. Nothing like being in a room filled with pregnant women and really taking the time to focus on me and the baby. I will be recommending this studio from now on! I appreciate you taking the time to suggest it.

Hi Eilleen. There is a prenatal yoga class that the parents rave about here in Wash. Heights. It is held in Renaissance Village, 220 Cabrini Blvd. (entrance 186th St.). Saturdays 10:00-11:30. The drop in rate is $16 per class, but you can buy a bundled package if you choose. The number is ###-###-####. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

hi E.,

I live in Riverdale and work on the upper west side. I absolutely LOVED going to the Prenatal Yoga Center. Its on 72nd between Broadway and West end. they have a website- prenantalyogacenter.com THey have classes every day at least 2x per day. When you sign up (1 class per week for 12 weeks, or 2 classes etc), you can just show up to any class during the week. Only thing is that sometimes it gets crowded. I know its not that close, if you have any questions let me know.

I second the recommendation for Prenatal Yoga Center. In addition to the great yoga, many of the instructors are doulas and give tons of amazing advice during the classes. Before each class they go around the room and each person has a chance to talk about any issues they're having - aches, pains, etc., allowing the instructors to provide more personalized instruction.

I really enjoyed taking Deb's classes, who runs the studio. She studied with Ina May Gaskin and is an amazing source of information and inspriation.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Enjoy every second!!
