My 5 year old daughter is graduating from Preschool in just a couple of weeks and I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas for a gift for her? I was originally going to give her a backpack for Kindergarten, but there aren't really any available to look at right now, plus I think she'd want to pick it out.
I would like to get something that we can keep forever as a reminder of her preschool graduation - I love gifts like that.
Any suggestions would be great - thanks!

We gave my daughter a little necklace with her initial on it. It was inexpensive (from Target) but since she didn't have any "real" jewelry prior to this she thought it was beautiful!!

Also, my husband and I totally missed the boat on this one but a lot of parents brought their little girls flowers to give to them after graduation. All the girls loved getting the flowers.

Good luck,
K.

There are quite a few books about starting Kindergarten so it might be fun to get her one of those as a special gift/preparation for the big time!

I came across something that I think would be so special & perfect to use as a treasured keepsake for this important milestone! Build a Bear Workshop has graduation items for sale. They have a black or white graduation clothes set that includes cap, gown & diploma for $12. You could use it for a favorite stuffed animal she already has or let her create a new one. They have the Pomp & Circumstance sound you can add to your furry friend for $4. And they, also, sell just a sash that says Class of 2010 for $3 or you can even purchase just the diploma for $2. I think any girl that age would be thrilled! Best of luck & enjoy this very special time - the years pass so quickly!

I am giving our 5 year old daughter a children's atlas and encyclopedia for her preschool graduation. She loves books, and I thought an educational gift is appropriate for a graduation. We got them through the Scholastic book club, but you could always get a nice book from the bookstore. Then you can write a little note inside the cover to her and she can keep it forever!

When K graduated from Head Start I made her a crayon apron and a scrapbook. The apron was just basically a long rectangle with a piece of narrow fabric sewn across the bottom and "slots sew into it. Then I gathered it across the top and put a tie waistband on it. The crayons came from the dollar store so it was an inexpensive gifts.

I also bought the DVD from the school and used a photo print software and made her a simple scrapbook. It's not a full notebook size and she can take it with her if she wants.

Congratualtions to your little one. If you google preschool graduation gifts you'll get a lot of choices there too.

If i may, there are some back pack available, and speaking from experience, unless you want to get her a back pack every six weeks, buy her a good durable backpack, like jansport or east pack, that she can use crayola washable markers on or add patches to the front of it. My children's grandparents kept buying my kids the cute back packs with characters on it and they fell apart before christmas. last year i bought them both a jansport form dick's sporting goods, ($30) each of them is still using it now, with no rips or tears in it. plus jansport has a life time guarantee. lol can you imagine getting her a back pack now and when she hit high school you might finally have to buy her a new pack or send in her old one? Good Luck
