Preschool Graduation - Idea for Class Project...

When i taught pres-school, i had a year that the kids were very advanced. I had each child draw a self portrait. I scanned them in the computer and shrunk them down so they would all fit on the front of one post card. I forget now if i left the address blank or if i did one with the schools address. I don't think i asked parents to supply their address' but i might have. anyhow the idea is that if you have 12 kids in the class each kid gets 12 blank postcards and can send one out to the other 11 friends.

Dollar stores have those brag books, you could ask parents for photos of things they had done through out the year and make a little album, I see lots of kids bring those to kindergarten with them for show and tell. andhave had mothers come back years later to tell me how much they loved the album from preschool

Class yearbook.

Have each kid trace his hand on one half of a piece of paper. Glue a small circle close up pic of him/her in the middle of the hand (not too big, you want to still see the hand). On the other half, have them write in their name, age, date, grade, what grade they will be going into next year, some favorites like song, book, pet. Have the child sign it, if they can.

Have each child make a colored copy for each classmate (22 is alot though). Use 3 hole punch paper. Then have each child give a copy to each classmate. Everyone can staple them together, or punch holes and put in 3 ring binder/folder. Maybe even theroom moms can provide the folders, with the name of the school written on the front, including a pic of the whole class and the names of the teachers.

Our preschool gave each child a t-shirt with their picture on it. In our case, the kids could all sign each other shirts.

A group picture with each child making their own frame for the picture.

Take a group picture and an individual pics of each child. Go to Walgreen's or somewhere similiar and get copies made of each one. Make or have each child make their own picture books of their friends.

My "go to" project for class and scout parties is the popsicle stick* frame. You can glue them together ahead of time, then all the kids can glue on whatever you want to provide: sequins, glitter, pompoms, googly eyes, whatever. Have preprinted labels that say XXX Preschool, Class of 2011, they can stick that front and center. Take a class photo and email or distribute hard copies to the parents to put in the frame. Also, it's nice to add a magnet* to the backside, then the framed picture can go right to the fridge, so cute!
*you can get boxed popsicle sticks and peel and stick magnets at your local craft store

My son got a cute t-shirt for graduation from preschool, wore it one time and refused to wear it again. What if you take a group picture and let each child decorate a frame for their picture. You can get little wooden frames really cheap at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc. Our twins did this in preschool but it was a gift for mothers day and had individual pics. in them. The kids painted the frames and then decorated them. A parent could use a paint pen to write the year or something.
Added: love the photo album idea. You could make a little page to go in the first slot that says the name of the preschool, graduating class of 2024, or something like that.

My daughter has a hand me down shirt she wears the says "What happens in preschool, stays in preschool" (she'd only 2, but she likes that it has ABCs on it). Or you could do something like Class of 2025 (is that math right???). What about something like that on the front and having the kids sign the back....assuming they know how to write their name (otherwise you could do the hand print). I had similar shirts done for middle schoolers. The tshirt shop gave me a special paper for them to write on and I don't remember the shirts being very expensive. You could also go to zazzle.com or cafepress.com and see if they have any cute t-shirt ideas. My hubby's parents gave him a class of shirt when he graduated preschool, hoping to help get him excited about the idea of kindergarten. The shirt was made into a pillow when he outgrew it. It's packed away now, but he still has it.

You could have them make a book. My daughter's preschool class did that. I think it was "If you give a mouse a cookie." The teacher wrote the words to the story at the bottom of a page (a line or 2 on each page) then each kid drew a picture about those lines. They each wrote their name on their page. It was really cute :D
