Hi. Very thoughtful of you. I responded to a similiar post about this a few months back. You could do little gifts from Tastefully Simple. For example...

Beer Bread & Wild Rice Soup/Potato Soup in a bowl
Almond Pound Cake & tin
Polka Dot Brownies & a wooden spoon
Almond Pound Cake/Brownie & Rhubard/Raspberry Dessert Sauce Spread wrapped in cellophane
Almond Pound Cake & Caramel wrapped in cellophane
Nana's Apple Cake & Caramel wrapped in cellophane or in a tin
Old-Fashioned Bread Pudding Mix & Brown Sugar Sauce Mix

etc. etc.

Each of these can be done for $15 or less and make great and easy gifts.

If you are interested, feel free to contact me personally as I am a consultant for Tastefully Simple and can offer good % off.

If not, I think teachers do love giftcards... and you usually can't go wrong with Target. :)

Take care!

being a daycare provider myself, i'd suggest a million dollars.

okay, really, i loved getting little pretty things, like one of the most beautiful coffee mugs i'd ever seen, from starbucks. I also appreciated the nice bottle of wine, or the nice wine glasses... if you are out and see something pretty that you'd like, you can be sure your provider will prob like it too. :) If there are many teachers, maybe getting some nice little french soaps or something else for the bath, they are a little less $ and you can get a few for each.

You can never go wrong with a gift card, especially if you do not know the person well. Do they drink alcohol? Are they allergic to bath products or just simply dislike them? Do they decorate their home in country decor or contemporary? Do they already have 500 apples with student's names on them (when my mom retired from 30 years of teaching elementary school, we counted over 200!). You rarely know these things, so that's where a giftcard comes in handy!

I know some people think gift cards are tacky and lack thought, but you know the recipient will get something he or she wants. My personal favorites are Lettuce Entertain You, Target, Starbucks, and Borders.

Hi A.!
Gift certificates are always nice. All teachers pay for so much out of their own pocket. If there is a teacher's store nearby or a bookstore those are always good. If you know the teacher loves coffee or movies etc. you could always get a certificate that she can use just for herself!

I am a daycare provider also and would suggest either gift cards to Target, or to a teacher supply store. These are most needed and very appreciated.

try going on cowboychuck.com-- they have some neat cartoon pictures of teachers and to have it put in a frame and mailed to you is only about $40 and you can have her name and a message put on it. It's something different.

gosh.. how sweet of you to think of the teachers. I teach preschool and I'm telling you, we truly appreciate the gifts that we receive. We aren't in this field for the money that is for sure so any extra perks we receive from parents are TRULY appreciated. I have to say, I love those gift cards too. ANY kind is just wonderful. I personally would rather have gift cards exclusively for places to treat myself and my family but for those teachers who work at schools where materials are scarce, it does come in handy to buy things for the classroom. Our school is well stocked with everything so gift cards for myself are what I love!
I'm sure your child's teachers are going to really appreciate your thoughtfulness!
May I ask where your child goes to day care?
thanks!

When it was Christmas time I went out and bought a big box of full size candy bars and other treat stuff for them to have during the day. I knew that they would often go to the vending machine on thier breaks...so at least for a few weeks snacks were free.

Starbucks gift cards or a GC to a fav restaurant have always worked well for me. Almost all teachers like the Starbucks GC!

Gifts to pamper are always welcome. Women want to do that for themselves but typically don't. Since the cold weather is coming, some great scented hand lotions, foot creme (being on their feet all day long), lavender (calming and soothing) body washes/soaps. I like the tea/coffee and cream theme: Get a cute mug and fill with tea bags and small lotions. Practical in all ways! Have fun doing it too!

I say a gift card. I don't think they are impersonal...just practical. Target works well as they carry everything. I recently bought a general mall gift certificate for the director (she was leaving). Then she can spend it on whatever she wants.

I am also a daycare provider and I really like the gift cards to Target, Walmart etc.. this way I could use it for the daycare or I could it use for my home. Also, I like earrings, necklaces etc. Everytime I wear them I think about the child that I used to care for. I have been in daycare for over 20 years!
