Price of Strawberries - Good or Bad?

Strawberries are $1.88 a pound right now and I am wondering if this is about as low as they will get or if they should get a bit lower before the prices go back up. I am wanting to can some strawberries and I want to wait until they are about as low as they will get for the year but not wait so long that they start climbing in prices again.

Thanks!

Whole Foods has organic ones on sale tomorrow only for $1.99. That's usually what I pay for conventional ones.

If you have a Sprouts near you, they are on sale for $1.25 right now. Other then that, $1.88 is probably the lowest you will find.

P.S.
That $1.25 a container, not per pound.

I think here in MN the best sale I've ever found was at WalMart, for 2 dollars for a 2 lb box.

I bought 5 pounds last week for $4.99, then $2.99 for the 5 lbs.

I think you're shopping at the wrong store.

Good luck to you and yours.

If you have an Aldi ad, they are $.99/pound this week. If your Aldi strawberries look good then there you go....if not, WalMart and Target price match. Take the ad with you so there is no hassle.

that's really cheap.
i don't buy organic everything because i can't afford it, but strawberries are pesticide sponges so i do usually buy organic ones. and i can't even get pick-your-own that cheaply.
sigh. and my own strawberry plants are kaput. i had the best strawberry patch at my old house, but have had no luck with them here. and how i do love a nice ripe red sweet strawberry warm from the sun!

That's cheap. I paid $5 last week for 2# fresh strawerries at Market Street.

Just watch what you get.... you know the saying, you get what you pay for.

strawberries are at the peak of their season right now. I don't think they will go lower...at least not much. Strawberry season will be over very soon and then they'll climb right back up

That is pretty good for my area (NY area has slightly higher prices than most areas). In my area local strawberries are usually at their peak in June. But you are far south of where I live so you may get them much sooner.

I just bought four pounds yesterday at Aldi's. They were awesome and only 99 cents. Most are already gone so I'll restock later today.
