I wouldn't give a gift to a priest. I would give him a check or a donation to the church...anything in between $35 and $50 would be nice, I think. I'm surprised at the answer below. I don't know of any church that would not accept a donation.
What did you give your priest for doing the baptism service? We usually do $25-50 cash, but just wanted to get your opinions. Its our Catholic church of course and he did a really nice service. Whats the normal amount?

We were told the recommended donation was $25. I think it depends on the church goers and the location as well. I would think that a church in a wealthy area with wealthy attendants might recommend a higher amount than a churcxh in a low income neighborhood. Have you asked the office workers, the deacon(s), or the person who runs the baptism class?
Our church gave us an envelope with a note on it saying the recommended donation was $100.
I remember we had a young Priest and my Parents invited him over for the Party and slipped him some cash as a gift.
Maybe a gift card to a clothing store or athletic store.. Running shoes. etc.. .. They do still needs basics.
A nice Blanket, Robe, gift card to a book store.
Our church wouldn't ever accept money for the honor of baptizing a baby!
The pastor? Nothing, you don't give them a gift. You can invite them to the luncheon/reception if you have one afterwards, but you don't have to. You can also give a donation to the church for use of the premises and whatnot but it's not required. The amount of the donation depends on what you can afford and may be given at the time that the certificate is signed.
