i've always been pee-shy, but after my c-section with my son i find that i cannot fully empty my bladder. and it's getting harder and harder to pass urine. it's been 4 months since my c-section, i thought things would get better and i'm just curious to see if anyone else has gone through this as well. i can't really afford to go to the doctor, maybe cranberry juice will help? it's interfering with my sleep and my sex life. help!

What can I do next?

I had this problem too. It turned out I had a stricture (kink) in my urethra. The Urologist numbed me then stretched it. It took all of 1 minute to fix after suffering with it for 8 months. If that is what you have cranberry juice will not help and you will need to see a doctor. Good luck!

Have you been doing Kegals? Your pelvic floor may have been damaged from your pregnancy and you could need some physical therapy for your lower half or it could be something even more serious requiring surgery (like a pelvic sling) or could be a complication from your c-section. Cranberry juice will not fix this....this doesn't sound like a UTI. Go to a doc or clinic or something!

You may not have to go to the doctor, call your OB and explain your symptoms. My OB always helped me over the phone afterward and can call in a prescrip for you. I wonder if your can't fully empty your bladder b/c of your muscles being cut? I would just sit there until it does all come out. Do little, easy, short bursts of pushing to get it out. Sometimes I feel like I don't get it all out but I will sit there until I do. Why is it interfering with your sex life? do you go to the bathroom right before and then find you have to go again? I really would call and if you can, you really may want to go in and have it checked. call first and maybe this is familiar to the doc. Good luck and congrats!

you need to go to the doctor. Go to an urgent care center if you don't have health insurance. It is cheaper than a regular doctor visit and often they have their labs right there. You need to rule out an infections. But if you had an infection you would probably have a fever, so maybe a trip to a urologist would be better, pricey yes, but you really need to figure out what is wrong. Perhaps a muscle isn't working right or you have really emptied your bladder but something is pushing on it so it feels like you haven't, like a hernia or something. Get yourself checked out!! That is what credit cards are for. But don't go to the emergency room, unless you really have to, they cost waaaayy to much money!!

This is something that requires the attention of a medical professional. Find a doctor and see them now. The co-pay or office visit pay will likely be cheaper than what it will cost to fix some major infection or structural issue that you've let get out of hand. If this was your baby's issue you wouldn't hesitate to get it fixed, so take care of yourself too.

I'm not sure exactly why you would be having this problem but it could be caused by something more serious. If it is getting worse you should really see a doctor. There is something called a prolapse where basically the bladder has moved or fallen down and is in the wrong position. If there is no pain then it probably isn't a bladder infection which is the only thing that might be helped by cranberry juice. You could try doing kegels (the vagina exercises or squeezes that you probably learned during pregnancy). If it doesn't get better you should really see a doctor because you might need surgery to reposition the bladder.
