Prolasped Bladder and Stress Incontinence

I will tell you to research what ever the doc suggests. My friend had the bladder sling put in and it nearly killed her. Boston Pharmaceuticals is still paying out money to people who had it put in.

She was not part of the class action law suit because the doc seriously did not know the FDA had told them to pull the slings off the market and get them off the shelves. The doc paid for the full 6 months of physical therapy himself and actually did come to PT a few times to debris her incisions and clean the ball of gangrene that formed in her vagina and around her female parts.

She will never enjoy intercourse again and her vagina is not shaped right so it's not enjoyable for her hubby either, he got offered hundreds of thousands of dollars to try and get them to settle out of court. She refused because they wanted her to sign a release from them being responsible for any future illnesses that are related to this sling. The gangrene is in her blood for the rest of her life, anytime she gets upper chest infection or even just a cut on her finger she can get gangrene in it and could potentially die from complications.

So, research the product he wants to use, find out if there have been any complaints, find out what other people have said about the materials used. The docs didn't even know the slings had been recalled twice and the company fined for not doing it.

So sorry this has happened,but the problem can be corrected surgically. I know 2 women who have had it done. First, I would make an appointment with a urogynocologist. They specialize in these types of problems. A Dr. England in Ft. Worth is great and has a wonderful bedside manner. I went to him for a different type problem and really liked him. Don't be depressed. Many women have pelvic floor problems. It is nothing to be ashamed about. You can get help and feel more comfortable doing the activities you mentioned. You are not alone and have my complete empathy. I was actually going to post something similar!

Even before having a baby, I had issues with a "fast and furious" bladder. I tried cutting down on caffeine (impossible with an 18-month-old!), kegels, etc.

Since I had my daughter, the condition has gotten worse. I can't go to a store or on a run without visiting a potty or suffer the wrath of leaking.

I am going to see a urogynecologist, someone who specializes in the bladder and girl parts.

I would recommend finding such a specialist in your area.

I can not speak to the personal experience you are having.

However, my mom had surgery for a prolapsed bladder this past summer - she needed to have about 6 weeks to entirely heal from it all, meaning no heavy lifting and such. But she feels SO much better! And would recommend it to anyone who needed it.

I would do a lot of research and talk to as many other women as you can that have had this surgery done. My mom had all of this done (twice) and it did not fix anything. In fact, it made things worse as she aged. :( There has also been a recent recall of the bladder "slings".
I don't know what your beliefs are, but you may want to look into "natural" remedies first. I just see first hand what my mom has gone through, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Sorry to be so negative. :(

My mom had the surgery done in her 50s and it worked well. She didn't get the mesh thing though, which I have heard can cause some problems. Don't be embarrassed and don't be depressed...just get some info...it can't hurt, right?

I'm going for a consult myself, tomorrow, so I'm not just giving advice here. : ) I'm putting my money where my...oh, never mind!
