Can anyone recommend a protein powder that is healthy and good mixed with skim milk and fruit? I have bought one soy and it is horrible - taste very chalky. Any ideas would be appreciated and recipes if you have one! Thanks!

Absolutely! I sell it, and my entire family drinks it. Including my husband, my 22 year old son and my 17 year old son AND my 90 year old Dad, who claims renewed energy with it. I believe it is the best soy protein on the planet. It's called Energizing Soy Protein. It is a powder and you can make it any way you like. My favorite is 8oz of rice milk, 1 banana, a bit of ice and the protein. My 22 year old throws in a scoop of peanut butter. To us it tastes like a milk shake, but it is so healthy!

Hi A.,
My entire family uses Juice Plus Complete everyday and we love it. It is not chalky at all. It comes in chocolate and vanilla. It has 13g of protein per serving. It also contains fuit and veggie powders, kelp, spirulina, jerusalem artichokes - great, high nutrient food sources I know my family wouldn't get otherwise! My boys drink the chocolate in their milk every morning, my husband loves the vanilla in some orange juice and milk (dream sickle) and we make smoothies all the time with a variety of fruit and even add spinach, flax - all kinds of things! You can learn more about it at www.HamreHealth.com. Let me know if you have any questions! Good luck!

Hi A., My husband owns a Sports Nutrition Store in Plano called Optimum Sports Nutrition. It's at 75 and Spring Creek. He practically LIVES on Protein shakes and is very picky about them. He said a lot of women really like this one called Nectar. He has done a lot of research on protein so feel free to call him or go see him. His name is Brett. The store's number is ###-###-####.

I recently found Gold Standard Whey at a heath food store. It breaks down when spoon stirred, has only 4 carbs, 120 cals per scoop and 24g protein. It's main ingredient is whey protein isolates, so I think it is a better quality, which translates to better protein absorbtion. I like the cookies and cream and it only cost $21 for a 2lb container. I also like Syntha Strawberry from GNC and Extreme Whey chocolate(60g protein) from GNC, but they are a little more pricey and a bit more caloric. Are you just looking to get your daily protein or are you trying to add lean muscle? You might try egg white protein powder - 100% natural and not much taste, so you would have to concoct your own beverage. I hear designer whey is also good - on my list to try next. Muscle and Fitness Hers prob has a breakdown of different protein powders, including taste rating.

Hello A.,
I can personally recommend Arbonne's International's Shakes. They are Vegan Certified and tastes great mixed with water and fruitin a blender. I usually put a scoop of Arbonne's fiber shake in it also. I use frozen fruit so it makes it more like a smoothie....very good. I am an Independent Consultant with Arbonne so if you would like to get together I can make you a shake and you can taste it for yourself. OR you can order the protein shake and give it a try yourself. Also, Arbonne has a website specifically for our Figure 8 product line at www.gofigure8.com. Let me know if you would like to place an order and I would love to help you out.

The best protein powder I have ever tried is Arbonnes! It is vegan and packed with vegetable protein. Plus if you visit www.gofigure8.com you can find recipies for protein bars and much more along with buddies. My girls are fans of the penut butter and chocolate protein bars I make with the powder. I recomend this to all of my clients and friends. I would be happy to put some in a baggie and mail you a serving of it. Plus if you do purchase any Arbonne products they back up their products for 45 days =).

My favorite is Dymatize Elite. I love the Chocolate Mint (just like Thin Mints!) and the Mocha. I buy it from bodybuilding.com

I usually just mix with milk, but I have vanilla flavored as well that I add to my oatmeal.

A.,
There are two (actually three) that I would recommend. One is Jay Robb's Whey Protein in Vanilla and the other is Essential Natural Whey Protein in Vanilla Cake flavor. Soy is a highly allergic ingredient for most people and really isn't the health food people think it is, so it would do you good to just stay away. (only the fermented products of soy, like miso are healthful).
Both of these protein powders do not contain any artificial sweeteners like Splenda or Nutrasweet (Aspartame) with are neurotoxic and have shown to cause cancer and other nasty side effects. MOst protein powders on the market today contain up to 3 different artificial sweeteners--hey we're trying to be healthy here right!! The best one that I recommend though is from www.mercola.com and it's called Pro-Optimal Whey Protein. Read about it and I think you'll agree--and it tastes absolutely fantastic--even without adding any extra fruit! Hope this helps.

Here's our families favorite receipe:

5-8 oz of your favorite FROZEN fruit
8 oz of water (rice or almond milk is great too)
1 capful of REAL vanilla
1 packet NOW Brand Stevia Balance (no-cal natural sweetener with added inulin fiber and chromium)
1 serving (depends on the Whey protein you choose) of the Whey protein
Put into a blender and blend until smooth and ENJOY!

Be sure to use the frozen fruit (we like mixed berries) because it makes it cold and frothy, just like the smoothies you get at Smoothie Factory. Also, there's no added dairy, especially skim milk which is very high in sugar and higly inflammatory (can cause any pain you're suffering from to become worse, even headaches) But, that's another subject... :-) Email me personally with any questions ____@____.com

Yours In Good Health,

Dr. Jenn

I also love Jay Robb. Vanilla is great and chocolate isn't bad. My husband likes the strawberry. You don't have to order it. WE found it at the health food place at Lebanon and Preston in Frisco...i think it is Family Heath something??

I certainly recommend Herbalife's Personalized Protein Powder, which is all natural, and has no flavor at all. You can add it to anything, including your drinks. In fact, I add it to my drinks, along with many of my foods!
