Proud Mommy Moments?

I have been debating posting this since Sunday.

I have been blessed with some great kids. This past weekend my son, Greg, and my husband went on a Boy Scouting Camping trip. They were camping at the C&O Canal near the Potomac River. If you are involved in Brownies, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts or Boy Scouts - you know there is a buddy rule. You aren't supposed to go anywhere without a buddy.

Greg noticed his buddy wasn't there. He got his dad and they went looking - they heard him calling for help - he had fallen into the Potomac (water was freezing) and could NOT get out because he was freezing in the water and the bank was too slippery...Both Bob and Greg remained calm. They found a stick long enough to pull the other boy out of the water...they took him back to camp and got his clothes off of him and over the fire to dry out.

While he didn't save him from drowning - he did save him from freezing...I'm VERY proud of my son for noticing, taking action and not going out alone!!

Has your kid done something you are proud of?

What can I do next?

My son stood up for his little girlfriend yesterday (he is in 1st grade) he came home and told me that a few people were making fun of her name it is Anneka and they were calling her hermonica. So I asked him what he did about it and he said he told her not to worry because hermonica's make beautiful music. Just made me smile that he is so thoughtful and tried to make her feel better, and the teasing stopped once they realized it was a compliment.

WOW - thank you for sharing that, and what an AWESOME deed and accomplishment for Greg. BRAVO!

ETA: I see so many parents posting about their kids on FB, pictures, accomplishments, etc., and I ALMOST get sucked into the madness... BUT then my SENSE kicks in, and I refrain. I. Hate. Facebook. But I do sometimes feel bad that I am not shouting from the mountaintops how immensely proud I AM of my son for who he is becoming, and for his accomplishments. So to my friends here, whom I feel comfortable sharing this information with, I will tell you that my son made perfect marks on his first Kindergarten report card, he was selected as Student of the Month for November (chosen by grades and classroom behavior), he has remained on Green (they use a Green, Yellow, Red behavior system in the classroom), and his is only 1 of 2 kids in the entire class of 25 kids that has never gotten off of Green, and his teacher said in our parent/teacher conference, that he is an absolute pleasure to have in class. He is kind, social, well mannered and well behaved, and is in the upper portion of the class academically and making wonderful academic progress.

This is the kid, whom I posted about several times in the past about my concerns about his behaviors, his academic progress, etc. Man, sometimes I wonder where my head is, and I am finally learning to just let things be and let him become the wonderful little man he is becoming.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to say all that. :)

We had Parents night a couple of weeks ago. When I walked into the class, her teacher said "before we start discussing your daughters work, can I just say what a wonderful, thoughtful child you have and I can just tell she comes from a terrific family" :-) aw.... I honestly starting blushing and I had a big grin on my face the whole time. haha I took my girl out to buy new art supplies that same night. She is such a doll. :-)

Way to go Greg!! That is wonderful. You and your husband have every right to be proud!

Well recently my daughter made me proud with getting ready for school on time and getting out the door without any meltdowns this morning. Trust me, this is a huge deal. So for that I was proud of her. I am proud of her for many reasons but this was the most recent episode.

ok, so i had a proud mommie moment with our daughter the other day..(my left arm is deformed as a lot of you already know), so any way, i took our daughter in to the doctor for her check up the other day, and the doctor asked that i undress her( my daughter, not the doctor), so she can do her exam.. my little girl stands up and together we started undressing her, ( she loves to stand up while getting changed or dressed ), well the doctor figured she would help me, and my daughter turned, looked over my shoulder, pouted at the doctor and said,"NO, MOMMA DO", and then went right back to helping get her undressed.the doctor just stood there looking stunned, me , on the other hand, was very proud of my daughter

Right before Thanksgiving, parents were allowed to come into the school for a fall feast and a small in-class song/program beforehand. All of the kids took turns saying what they were thankful for and my son answered quite simply: "I'm thankful for God."
It was the ONLY mention of GOD in the classroom that day, in a public school.
I could NOT have been more proud.

WAY TO GO GREG!! That really is amazing and I'd be beyond proud too.

My kids may drive me crazy every day, but they make me so proud every day too.

I was in tears at my daughter's Christmas production last Saturday. The amount of time, effort, and skill she has at such a young age is breathtaking.

Teachers and students alike seek my 6 year old out for hugs and help. He has been described as being "coach like" since preschool. He is so helpful and encouraging to everyone around him.

My 4 year old is something else...lol. But at daycare my sitter had lost her voice, but stayed open. Yesterday he was on his very best behavior and she thanked me a million times over (via text) because he helped keep all of the kids in line!

Just the little things they do :).
