Puke Disinfectant

I had some friends over and my friends son puked at my house. I think he has a virus but not really sure but you all know those darn viruses hit whenever and wherever. It definitely had that puke smell but the food wasn't yet digested. He did it once and then about 15 mins later he did it again. I felt so bad for him. As my luck goes, I just cleaned the bathrooms.

What would you all use to disinfect the bathroom and living room? I sprayed it down with lysol--toilet, door knob, sink handles, floor, everything and then I sprayed all over the living room.

Do you think white vinegar is good enough?

What can I do next?

I'm a fan of bleach. Dilute it in hot water, 9 parts water to 1 part bleach. (This is the dilution you can use to disinfect baby toys, etc - safe around pets and kids.)

You already disinfected it with lysol, so I think white vinegar would be good as a follow up. I worked at a veterinary office, which is basically like a Dr's office and of course we have poop and vomit all over. We used white vinegar to clean, it is 99.9 percent effective against bacteria, but only about 90 percent effective against mold spores. Vinegar is more effective when it is finely mixed with a solvent of water and bleach. I can't recall the exact measurement but I'm sure you can find it online.

Knowing cold and flu season is right around the corner, I just went out and bought 4 big bottles of hydrogen peroxide $2.00 each, and three spray bottles .$.97 each. I use this to clean my bathrooms and kitchen and any place else I want to disinfect. I add it to my laundry too!
Works great, non toxic and cheap, plus, no bleach smell!

I agree with Riley J....Bleach/Lysol are both very effective. After taking numerous Comm. Disease classes and working in day cares and now having my own small day care. I make a bleach water solution every day. I buy big spray bottles add a cap full of bleach and fill the rest up with water. It is only good for 24 hours so I have to make it every day. I spray everything once the kids go home for the night... Toys, doorknobs, counters, toilet seat, changing table well you get the idea really cuts down on the spread of those nasty comm. diseases. Changing tables and toilet seats are sprayed after each use!!! Ugh I hate the stomach virus because it is so out of your control!!!!

I clean my bathrooms with bleach. For the carpet I will use baking soda and then vacuum it up and then spray with lysol.
