I'm looking for a push toy for my 11 month old. Does anyone have any that they would recommend? Do you know of any other toys that will help your child walk? Thanks for your help!!!!

My boy loved the one that looked like a dump truck at Target. You can push it, it's a ride on, and a dump truck. He's almost 4 and still plays with it.

We also have the lawn mower that has the balls that pop inside...love it.

We have a push and ride train by chicco. our son loved pushing it, and now likes scooting along on it. it makes noise but doesn't need batteries. also, he likes hiding things under the seat. It runs well on our hardwood, and on our rugs, but I don't know how it would do on carpeting.

its made of plastic - pluses- its easy to clean and its lightweight, so if he topples and it falls on him, little to worry about. downsides, it needed to be weighed down to serve as a counterbalance to his walking efforts at first.

Good luck to you and yours.

The Stride to Ride Lion is a fun one because it can turn into a car/ride-on when they are a little bigger.
I know others recommended shopping carts - make sure you get one that doesn't tip over too easily, since those are not made to be supportive for a new walker and are often more lightweight.

We bought the radio flyer walker/wagon because the plastic one we had kept tipping over.

She's 4 and she still plays with this to push her dolls around and use as an indoor scooter. :)

We had the Handle Haulers Haul & Ride by Little Tykes. My son LOVED it!! I think it gave him confidence in walking. I will always remember him being afraid of walking without holding onto to something or someone (at first) but he'd walk on his own while dragging this truck behind him. He had no idea he was really walking all by himself!!

If I had seen this soon enough(walking now) I would have bought it for my son: http://www.amazon.com/Pewi-Ybike-Ride-Walking-Buddy/dp/B0...
Looks like a lot of fun to me!
And recommended by catalogs that recommend good quality products.

Anything that they can push around and use to steady themselves will do the trick. A toy lawn mower...a baby buggy. But don't worry about teaching her to walk...she WILL learn...I promise you!! And then your life will never be the same!!! lol

we bought the plain jane model. We had dd in it at about 7 mo and she was walking by 10mo. She had a blast on our hardwood floors she would get to running then lift her feet and slam into the couch she thought that was the funniest. Mind you she was not going very fast but she thought she was cooking, lol. Also if you have any pets plan on them being a little pissed that his mobilty has improved. gl

no toy or tool will help your baby walk before they are ready...it will happen (as it has happened for millenia!) when it's meant to happen. you can work with your baby and play with him/her and help them out too. my son had a walk-behind lawn mower that was a huge hit, although come to think of it i don't think he used it to "learn" to walk, but he LOVED it not long after he took his first steps, i think it helped his coordination. i don't think they really do "walkers" any more, i think that was one of those things that got yanked when everyone got so paranoid the last ten or twenty years :) you will probably only find exersaucers (which are cool too!)
