So What Happened?

Thanks for sharing what you do!! We are celebrating Christmas on Christmas Eve, so I think I am going to start wrapping and putting things under the tree soon. I'll just do a couple at first, for other people, and if my DD leaves them alone, I will do more.

Gifts to friends and extended family go under the tree as soon as they are wrapped. I also put the special presents we open on Christmas Eve under the tree as soon as they are wrapped.

A few of the presents we give each other go under the tree right away, put the others and Santa presents wait until Christmas morning.

GIfts for others (grandma, aunts, friends, etc) go under as soon as they are wrapped. Our children's presents go under after they go to sleep on Christmas eve. I am starting the pajamas on Christmas eve tradition this year and will put these out early too.

dependson if your kids will open them before christmas day. :) when my oldest was 3 he had his own christmas party before I woke up. he got a bag of marshmellows and a pop and opened every present in the house. if he liked it he threw marshmellows up in the air. i was finding marshmellows in my plants when I repotted them 9 months later so I started waiting a day or two before till he was old enough to understand.

For those that do not live in our house (grandparents etc) I put them under the tree when they are wrapped. For those in our home, they go out on Christmas Eve when Santa delivers the others.

we have them there already! it helps that my son doesnt know any are for him, and it also keeps the cat out from under the tree!
good luck!

I'm not sure why or how it started but we put them out after they go to bed on Christmas Eve. My parents didn't do that nor did my husband's. We have found the anticipation of seeing the presents and then seeing all of the presents on Christmas morning is just as much fun as watching them open them.

The pile grows and grows a little every day :)

At our house Santa only brings each kid 1 gift and it's always un-wrapped with a big red bow, waiting for them on Christmas morning!

my son is 15mnths old so we are still trying to establish christmas traditions. Last yr we put them out as we wrapped them. but since he will try to open them this yr we are waiting till christmas eve night. and I till we will go with that as our tradtion. I love the idea of him waking up and seeing all his gifts under the tree christmas morning!

Hi J. :-)

Under the tree as soon as they are wrapped.. LOL! that is my daughter's way :-) when I was growing up.. Santa brought ALL of the gifts... so when we went to bed there was nothing and when we woke up.. woo hoo!

But.. my daughter LOVES to see the excitement of "things to open".. she didn't even care if they were hers.. just lots of "presents" under the tree was fun for her.. so it's ultimately up to you... but in this house, even at age 23.. the gifts are under the tree as soon as they are wrapped.. AND.. my daughter will buy lots of her own stuff.. from "us".. and wrap it herself and she STILL loves them under the tree.. hahah!

As soon as I wrap them - so usually more go under every day. My parents would only put out presents on xmas eve after kids went to bed, and as a result my brother and I were big snoops to find them and since they were in hiding places, it made it easier to open them discreetly beforehand. Since our presents are out in the open, under the tree, my kids would be hard pressed to find a time mommy or daddy wasn't around to sneak a peek. Santa brings one present per kid and those show up on xmas eve after kids are in bed.

We put the gifts that were for / from family members out after they were wrapped. Gifts from Santa were put out on christmas eve after the kids were in bed asleep. Santa always left one gift outside each kids door and they were allowed to open that one gift and play with it in their rooms till mom and dad got up. sometimes that worked and sometimes not lol. usually it was something small like a lego set or coloring book. just something to keep their attention from you know 4 AM till 5 AM lol

As soon as I wrap mine, they're under the tree. Santa only brings stockings and the big gift (unwrapped) so they know what's from him and what's from mom and dad. My kids are 3 and 9 and last year I had to do it different b/c my 2 year old would have gotten into them.

Right away-

But it depends on how nosy your kids are and what kind of pets you have. I once had a cat who ate ribbons (I have no idea how the ribbons survived the trip through the intestines), so I learned to make sure no presents had ribbons.

When we were kids we'd tear away a corner of the paper to peek. But soon we taught ourselves that the saving the surprise for later was worth it.
