I am about to get an Angel Care sleep monitor and I've heard mostly great things about it. My only concern is that during the summer months my hubby and I have fans going in our bedroom and sometimes even the A/C. I've heard that the monitor is so sensative that even a fan blowing at the crib can register as baby movement and so defeats the purpose. Has anyone else had this experience and if so how do you deal with the hot summer months? I want to keep my baby cool and I don't want to sweat to death, either! I was thinking perhaps we'll have to rig something around the crib or something. We live in a one bedroom apt and the crib is in our room. I seriously do NOT want to put the crib in another part of the house. I'm a first time mom and not ready for that--I'm actually GLAD we only have 1 bedroom! Thanks for your time...

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We got the Angel Care Sleep Monitor and I LOVE IT!!! It gives us such peace of mind and works like a charm! I know bc when i pick her up in the middle of the night and forget to turn it off, the alarm goes off! The fan on the night stand and space heater don't seem to affect it. Thanks for your feedback.

We had our daughter in our room for the first year and used the Angel Care monitor. We had the same concern about the ceiling fan... it took a bit of adjusting (about an hour of testing and retesting) the sensitivity but we eventually got it right before we used it. Set the fan on the setting you usually like and then adjust to that. Make sure it will alarm with it on and nothing in the crib and you not walking or moving.

I will say, it claims it is not to prevent SIDS and my DR told me it is giving me a false sense of security. I know this has personally saved my daughter atleast once and possible 3 times. The first time she was not breathing and we caught it in time and was able to take her to the ER and then she was brought home on a apnea monitor. She was on that for just over a year... she was a preemie. Then 2 times since November it has gone off for very shallow breathing. She has been becoming hypothermic and when her body temp drops so low she barely breathes. We have had to call the ambulance to take her to the hospital where a team of DRs and nurses were waiting to re-warm her. Very scary!! I suggest this monitor for all Moms out there! It will help you sleep much better at night no matter what!

Do make sure as your daughter gets bigger and starts moving around in the crib that you have the extension that you can purchase later. It will help with a lot of the false alarms as they ball up in the corners and sides of the crib!
Good luck and blessings to you!

I used it with both of my children in different cradles, cribs and rooms and never had a problem. Love that monitor!

I don't remember having any problems with the fan. I don't think ours are turned up enough. I was more worried about having our daughter in a draft.
I can say I think this is a wonderful device. Our daughter was a preemie and had problems with her lungs. When we were able to bring her home our doctor suggested the angel care monitor. He said as a doctor I cannot recommend it , but as a father I would have one for my baby. I still woke up during the night to check on her, and as she got older we had a few false alarms when she rolled off the monitor.
I will use this again for our next baby.

Hi Katie,
I have an Angel Monitor and did not like it. We had our daughter sleep in our room in the upper level of a pack 'n play when we brought her home from the hospital. Everytime we used the monitor with the movement pad it would go off in the middle of the night and wake everyone up. It wasn't worth having a newborn startled awake when she only slept 2-3 hours at a time. I still use the monitor today (minus the motion pad) and it's fine but I'm certain there are many other monitors out there that can do the same thing and not cost as much. Overall, if I had to do it again - I wouldn't.
