We were in Disney World (melting) and I missed the Dr. Oz show. On the preview he said that he was going to rec the drink that is guaranteed to burn belly fat. Did he rec. a certain kind of tea? I have always had a very flat stomach until I hit peri-menopause. So, the DRINK he rec. is really what I'm looking for. Any other tips for belly fat would be helpful, too. I do excercise 4-5 days a week !
***Was it black tea ??

I just had this thought - if this wonderful wizard of Oz recommended drinking gasoline, (like he freaked people out about apple juice), would a bunch of people be looking up the benefits of gasoline?

Drinking tea has been an antioxident for, oh, thousands of years. His 'announcement' is not news.

Luckily, tea is yummy (confession - a venti iced green tea at Starbucks - no sweetener, my weakness). Plus, it makes you go to the bathroom more often that also helps belly bloat.

i dunno. but if he's saying there's some sort of tea 'guaranteed' to burn off your belly fat, he's a quack.

For belly blasting he reccomended black tea, as Megan said. This part really prevents fat from depositing there because it blocks cortisol...the stress hormone that makes us carry our fat in our tummy. To actually lose belly fat he reccomended 3 - 8oz glasses of lowfat milk or other dairy products daily. The vitamin D and calcium is actually what goes in and breaks those cells up and helps metabloize them. Also, he reccomended pairing oranges with avocado. The citrus combined with the good fat is supposed to target belly fat.

I heart Dr. Oz!

Yes it was black tea. 4 times a day. said it should be your staple drink.

The show was 'Curvy Girls Guide'
There were different recommendations for 3 body types. Carries in belly, Carries in the backside, Carries all over. You can find the information on hulu. Look for 'Dr. Oz Curvy Girls'

I went to Dr. Oz's website and these are what I found:
http://www.doctoroz.com/blog/jodi-sawyer-rn/how-shed-your...
http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/best-belly-blasting-supple...
http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/2-minutes-better-metabolism

I'm sure there are tons more, but those are the ones I found in my 5 minutes of searching. Go to his website and I'm sure you'll find some info.

BTW: rec=recommend (Or at least that's what I assume.)

Missed it, but a lot of people recommend green tea. Personally,I don't believe anything works as well as exercise. Tea is a natural diaretic, so it does help with water retention. I find the best thing to do is to figure out why you have a belly first. Even in periomenopause it can be a number of things:
1. We may not realize it; but "the older we get, the less active we are." Best exercise is walking, but if you can do something more strenuous then do it....crunches, squats, leg lifts, aerobics, dancing, swimming, etc. The more you exercise, the more your muscles will tone back up. Ever see those female senior citizen body builders? They don't sit around watching TV or just take care of the family. They find "me time" and use it for exercising.
2. Water retention...As we hit periomenopause we start retaining water like a camel.
3. Gas...Yep, there is a true meaning to the term, "Old Fart." As we get older, our bodies just aren't as good at digesting stuff like when it was young. So you might want to stay away from gassy foods like sodas, beans, etc.

I saw this show, which was a while ago, but it has 4 great-sounding iced teas that help with metabolism, fat fighting, etc. I LOVE any tea, and if it has fat fighting or metabolism boost...all the better. Now I really want to get one of those infusion pitchers.
