So, we have a TON of thomas take n play/take along trains...they are the the little die cast metalish ones. I feel like we have spent a fortune on these!!!!
We have the play sets like misty island, mail delivery, etc. Now my boys want to BUILD tracks. So, I was able to find some tracks at toys r us, amazon, etc. But they do not have all opf the ellaborate bridges, houses, tunnles, etc that the wooden thomas sets have.

Does anybody know of wooden train tracks that are compatible with thomas take n play......the thomas wooden tracks will not work with take n play

What can I do next?

Unfortunately the Take Along is not compatible with anything else. You can buy track packs but they don't come with any of the bridges or anything else, just flat track.

The only Thomas sets that are compatible with anything else is the wooden ones. You can buy wooden tracks, bridges etc from any generic set or even from the dollar section at Target and they work just as well as the name brand.

We have several different systems for Thomas and nothing else works with anything but the name brand but the wooden.

No. They make these sets incompatible for a reason, and it's a huge pain. If you want to do something new, you have to buy up a whole new bit. And I love Thomas, so does my oldest, but they're ripping us all off with their toys.

Trains in general. Ugh. I bet I've spent 200 dollars on GeoTrax stuff, and every time we take it out to play with it the batteries are dead. I started taking the batteries out instead while storing, but now it takes half an hour to put the batteries in when we take it out. I am so fed up I want to sell the whole lot, and I wish I had bought the Thomas wooden sets instead, although they're way more expensive. For 200 I can fill our whole living room with the GeoTrax stuff we have...for the same amount, I'd only have a small Thomas set. Still wish I had gone with Thomas.

Sorry my answer wasn't more helpful.

You have the gray plastic track, right? Yeah, Thomas Take N Play is the only track that will work with it. I would try Craigslist to see if anyone is selling them. I just bought a huge bag of track pieces and another bag of engines from a lady at work for $45. Retail it would have been well over $300. Good luck!

Not sure about the take n play. But just an FYI that IKEA sells wood train tracks that are compatible with Thomas tracks and much cheaper. Sorry I couldnt help you with your question.

If you know someone who does wood work, maybe they can make an adapter piece that connects the two different tracks. Train shops or hobby stores might know of someone too. Or... you can connect the two via ramps. Ramp off the wooden to ramp on the take along. It would be an easy transition from one track to another. They could make believe they are crossing a river or something. Good luck

Check your local craigslist daily. The wooden Thomas trains and assessories are a hot item. I found my son a set, that retails for about $800, for $100. It's so fun!!
