Question for Moms of Boys in Diapers

I was told that when you change a boy's diaper and he has an erection, that he is about to pee. Is that true? She said that I need to cover it up right away before he pees. I didn't think that there had to be an erection before you're at risk for getting pee on you. Is there any truth to that?

I have to agree with most of the other responces. I have 3 boys ,now grown, and they all peed on me at sometime or another. Sometimes they did had an erection and sometimes they didn't. Another thing to watch is their eyes. If their eyes get wattery guess what, they are fixing to pee.

Hi BB,

This question makes me giggle a little bit, not so much because of the peeing issue but because when I had my two year old twin boys, I had no idea at all that babies could have erections so the first time I saw it, it freaked me completely out!!!! LOL I had a seven year old dauther when they were born so I had had no experience with little boys. That being said, I have been peed on several times but as I recall it was always when they were "relaxed" down there.

I am a Mom of 3 boys and I don't know if I have ever related getting tinkled on to an erection! I think you just have to beware with little boys all the time! My 4 month old has only wet on me a couple of times and both of those times were right before a bath when he heard the running water. I hope this helps! Good luck! Just wait unti they are potty training....what a joy that is! :)

In my experience my son didn't need an erection to pee on me-anytime cold air hit that area he would let loose.

I don't think so. I had 2 boys and that never seemed to be a prerequisite to being peed on!!! Hee Hee ;)

In grown men, the man cannot urinate while he has an erection. This is because of the way the anatomy is set up. I would assume it is the same in baby boys. I would just try to keep something close by to cover it with if he tee tees a lot during changes. As a mom, it's an occupational hazard! :-)

Thats not true. My son never did. He peed on me several times but it was not due to an erection.

I've heard that, but it wasn't necessarily true with my son.

I'm quite sure it's not true for all, but maybe some. I've changed a lot of little boys over the 20 years I've been a nanny or babysitter and have yet to see an erection pee, actually.

I would suggest, however, and this is just something I've always done to avoid messes- when changing the diaper, first put a clean diaper underneath the hiney and in the right position to place on the child. That way you just slide the old one out and if there was to be a urination accident, you just put the new one straight on top, right away after pulling the old one out. (Obviously doesn't work to place it back on quickly after pulling the old out if you haven't wiped any poopy off, but it works for just pee-pees.)

I don't agree with that. I recall getting peed on many times without any visual warning such as an erection. When my baby was a newborn he peed on me many times so I got in the habit of draping a wipe over it while I cleaned his bottom and left it on there until i began cleaning his front side. Speed is your friend so be swift in changing!

TRUE im our case. if my son starts to grow i know to throw something over him, because he IS going to pee. yet he has also peed without an erection. so i like to consider the erection as a warning to hurry when changing a diaper. good luck

Don't think an erection has anything to do with whether they pee or not. That hasn't been my experience anyway.

Trust me, any time that little area is exposed, you are at risk for being drenched!
