Hello. I've recently starting taking an anti depression medication. but this last time that i was on my period, it only lasted 2 1/2 days. and since i've had my son, that's not normal, my period usually lasts a week. i'm not sure if this would be from my medication or if something else might be going on....like could i be pregnant? i'm scared to call the dr and ask..i'm not ready to have another baby yet. has this happened to anyone or know what it could be? maybe just a fluk????? thanks everyone!!!!

What can I do next?

Call your pharmacist. They are the medication experts and are sources always available to you. If they are very busy when you call, just ask them to call you back at their convenience. This will allow them to review literature.

V.,
I took an anxiety/depression pill for a little bit and it never affected my periods, but maybe they are different w/everyone. Call and ask the doctor if thats common or google it and find some more info out. Good luck, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that your not preggers....haha!

Hi, I've been on Anti-depressions for awhile now. Recently I've changed meds and my period has only lasted anywhere from two days to two hours. I'm not sure why, but some meds do seem to effect your period.

I actually just got a refill of mine (Lexapro- the generic form) and I throughly read the info pamphlet that comes with it (something I've not done before) and one of the side effects is and I quote "decrese in menstrual bleeding" - so just look at is a nice side effect for you!! one less thing to worry about :)

Don't freak! a.d.'s often mess with periods. I take Effexor, with the hopes a lesser period would be a side effect (no luck). If you can, wait another cycle, or, if you're like me, & the stress, because I worry too much, is making me crazy, call your dr. Most likely you'll go back to normal in 3 cycles. If mine doesn't lessen by April, I'm having cryoablation ( i'm not having any more babies so it's a good option).
Good Luck! peace ~ M.
