Home preg test shows positive. Think I'm about 4 weeks along. Early symptoms were tender breasts and vivid dreams. All of a sudden, almost overnight, my breasts are no longer sore/tender. Has this happend to anyone before?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for your comments. I was worried becasue I do not have any symptoms - I actaully feel better now than I did two months ago - I feel giddy and happy all the time for no reason! Good news... took the two blood tests and learned today that my levels doubled over two days. Hopefully things will continue to go well.

Yes, but I hope this isn't what's happening with you. For me it was the first sign of a miscarriage. I would redo the home pregnancy test and see if it is still positive...I hope everything is okay! Good luck...

Make an appointment with your doctor for blood work just to be sure. That way, you don't have to sit around guessing and wondering (and possibly stressing).

Like the response below, I would say call the OBGYN, and get the bloodwork. But if the only symptoms you have is the loss of tenderness in the breast area, I wouldn't worry too much. My breast pain was terrible during the first couple weeks and quickly dissipated. I never even thought to worry. Congratulations by the way, and good luck with everything.

Hi E.~
I have 2 kids-4 yr old son & 10 month daughter. I NEVER had breast soreness or tenderness during either of the pregnancies. I don't think it would really be a huge cause for concern, but go with your gut. If you'd like to see your doctor for reassurance, than do just that. Nobody knows your body better than you.
Congrats on the pregnancy!!

I only say this because some pregnant women don't know this, but your first day of pregnancy (counting by weeks) is the first day of your last period. If you took a home pregnancy test and it was positive and you still haven't had a period you probably are. This is my third pregnancy and my breasts were never sore. Every pregnancy and woman is different!!

Those home tests are actually quite accurate in case there's still doubt. But yeah, mine practically blew up overnight, then it subsided for a while. They'll get bigger again but I found the soreness to be worst in the very beginning. Congratulations!

Congratulations! Yes, my breasts were noticeably less sore for a while the second time around. I would wait and see because for me, the sensation came and went and varied in intensity. If you're really concerned, I would take another test. But, from everything I've read you'd see other symptoms if there were something really wrong.

Don't worry the pain will come back. haha I had the same thing happen to me and then a few weeks later my boobs started growing... and growing... I went from a 34B to 34D. THAT was uncomfortable. You could have tender breast on and off throughout your pregnancy, it's pretty normal. And if you're worried you miscarried and don't know it yet, that's probably not the case. (I freaked when my stopped hurting because then I thought the hormones stopped) The worst breast pain is after the baby is here. Whether you breast feed or not, eventually you're going to have to go through engorgement and then it hurts even to breath. *wink*

My first child I only had soreness for a week. With my second, for the same amount of time. With my third...hardly at all.

I agree with Christy, though, that soreness or lack of soreness is not indicative of a successful or unsuccessful pregnancy. If you are worried about it, go have the Quantitative blood test for HcG levels (otherwise, they could just do a qualitative, which is just like a urine test). The Quantitative will see what your levels are.

Otherwise, if you do not want to spend that money (not sure about your insurance situation), you can always hit your local Dollar Tree (if you have one by you) and buy their pregnancy tests OR get another test that has the lines...not one that says "pregnant/not pregnant". You can tell if your HcG levels are increasing/decreasing by how dark the lines get and how quickly they change.

Good luck!!

They don't stay tender throughout the pregnancy.

Mine only hurt for a few weeks and then never did again (until engorgement after Eli was born). You will get all new and different aches and pains and twinges as you go along!

I would call your OBGYN right away and get the blood tests done to make sure your hormone levels are increasing appropriately. They will draw blood one day, and then the next day (of 2 days later) to see that the hormone levels are increasing appropriately. If that goes well, then try to get an ultrasound done at 6 weeks to double check that everything is ok. Everyone is different as far as pregnancy symptoms goes, so to say you are fine or not fine is not a fair judgment until you get tested.
