My 2.5 year old son wakes up around 5:45 goes to day care around 7:00 am Sometimes he will eat a snack at home before we leave other times he wants to take something with him . i need some ideas of what he could take that is qiuck, healthy, and not too messy. He usually takes dry cereal or a banana. He is allergic to milk, peanuts and any type of fruit and ceareal bar made with concetrated fruit juice. Because of his allergies I can't buy any type of breakfast bar. Do you have any ideas or recipes for quick breakfast type snacks. He has breakfast at daycare around 8:30 so he just needs a little something in the morning. Thanks for your help

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the great ideas. He loved the left over pancakes from sunday breakfast and I'm planning to make some granola bars.

There are many yummy things that go in the toaster. Wheat waffles, egg pockets, etc. My 2.5 year old loves cheese sticks. All kinds, anytime. He also Loves Sausage. I cook it, and then soak all the juice off (and some out) of it and stick it on a plastic fork for him.

how about string cheese. Also, frozen waffles right out of the toaster are great.

My girls do well with the little frozen pancakes- heat them up a little, and you're ready to go. You could also make a little breakfast wrap with a scrambled egg, slice of cheese (can he have cheese?), and a tortilla. Make the egg the night before like Jenna said, and all you have to do is zap everything, roll it up, and go.

raisins or grapes are good on the go, or crackers or pretzels.

How about a pita pockets? You can add whatever you want, and whatever amount you want in them. I like pita's with cream cheese, or scrambled eggs and bacon bits. You could always scramble the eggs the night before and just heat it up in the morning. I like english muffins with a lil peanut butter on them. Mmmmm yummy. Good Luck!

make a batch of pancakes on the weekend and freeze them, then reheat in the toaster oven. Slice bananas into discs (about 1/4" thick or slightly thinner) and dip them into pancake batter before cooking like regular pancakes, and you get a perfect toddler-size fruit-filled pancake :-).

One of my kids' favorite breakfast foods is Morningstar Farms veggie sausage patties. They can be microwavved and taken on the road. Good source of protein.

Hard boiled eggs
I second the homemade granola bars
Mini muffins (I make a big batch of banana bran muffins every so often - you could use soy, rice, or almond milk)
I also make big batches of pancakes and freeze

english muffins with soy cheese, just use half a slice though or the cheese runs out the sides into a gooey mess! how about half a whole wheat bagel

my son often takes 2 slices of cooked turkey bacon with him in the car as we go to "school;" he also likes english muffins with butter and honey (if your kiddo doesn't have an alergy) and bagel thins with laughing cow cheese spread. I try for fruits, but the only one he really does well with en-route is grapes. hope this gives you a couple of ideas. j
