My husband and I both agree that we like Quinn for a name for our daughter (I am due in Sept.) However, we cannot come up with a middle name we like to go with it. Any suggestions? We thought about changing it to Quinlen, or Quinlyn, just because its easier to find middle name that "work". We would still just call her Quinn, but I am not a fan of nicknames either, so I don't really like that idea either. Quinn also works great as a middle name, but I want to call her Quinn, and I don't want her to be going by her middle name. Any suggestions?
Any opinions would be appreciated, we have it narrowed down to the following names, tell me your opinions
Quinn Abigayle (my middle name is Gayle)
Quinlan Abigayle
Quinn Mallory (like this, but Mallory rhymes with my last name)
Quinn Noelle (but this baby and pregnancy has no connection with Christmas)
Quinn Gillian

Please do two things before naming a child.
1. Go the back door and shout the name out the door.
2. look at the initials ie Brad Allen Davis = BAD
Remember the name will be with the child, and may influence the child for the rest of her life.

I think something longer than Quinn and really girly.Have you went through family names? My Daughter's middle name is Rose and that is my MIL maiden name. And we went with Kaleb as a first name for my son so I went with a longer middle name,Kristopher. It just depends on what you guys like.Just remember that she has to live with it for the rest of her life.
Brainstormers: Quinn Addison (my favorite),Quinn Rebecca,Quinn Elizabeth (but she might get called Queen Elizabeth.) Quinn Christina,Quinn Abigail,Quinn Alexandria.
Those are a few examples.I personally don't like when people pick the middle names that sound just like the last name.I think the A names sound good with Quinn.
Good Luck and God Bless!

Quinn Marie is the first name that came to mind! I like the name Quinn!
I work in Human Resources - if she's going to go by Quinn, trust me, name her Quinn! It creates a lot of confusion (and sometimes embarrassment) when an employee uses their middle name or a nick name instead of their 'official birth certificate' name. You'll do her a favor by naming her the name you want her to go by.
Great name! Tell us what you choose!

Hi R.,
If you like Quinnlyn, why not just name her Quinn Lynn, or Quinn Linn? I'm not sure how to spell Lynn for a girl Lynne maybe but you could always just make Lynn her middle name. A word of advice do the initials thing before hand my daughter's initials spell ARAT. I should have just went with 3 names or hyphenated the middle names to spell ART, also filling in forms is difficult with 4 names. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I like some already given to you, like Elise, or Elisa, Marie, Alexandra or Lynn. I also like Lynnsey or Linsey or so many spellings of that name to get the 'lin' in if you like it. There are as many spellings of that name as you can think of. I also like Esther, Estella, Isabella, Alaina, Aliza, Alexia, Alisha, Annabelle. I personally like the vowel sound after the first name in this case.
Hope you find a name you really like.

Wow, lot's of people liked Marie, that was my first choice too. Practice how you would call your child or get her attention if you were reprimanding....everyone does it at sometime the whole name....see how it sounds.
I see your last name starts with "S" so think about initials sometimes they make acronyms that people make fun of...like the one who said "QVC". My son is "CBS"
Quinn Janae, Quinn Renee, Quinn Taylor or Taylore, Quinlyn is nice also, Quinlyn Bethany,or Bryce goes well together.
Have fun!

Very cute name! This is a tough topic...you could:
a. Let go of your hang up about the middle name. Just make Quinn her middle name and call her by it. My husband had a huge problem with this when we were in the baby name dilemma stage, but I know plenty of people who go by their middle names and somehow they manage to get through life just fine!
b. Make Quinn her first name and choose a middle name with 3 or 4 syllables. Not having any idea what you might like, I'll just throw out something like Quinn Emerson, Quinn Callista, Quinn Talia, Quinn Estelle (oops, that's only 2 syllables but maybe it works...?), Quinn Eliza, Quinn Miranda, Quinn Veronica, etc...
It's so hard to find a name that "flows", in the order you want it, and goes well with your last name. Good luck!

Quinn Nicole is my pick! Good Luck! We have four girls and my husband was very involved in the naming process. I chose a name I liked and he chose one he liked and we smooshed them together. Except for our youngest daughter. We told the older children we were pregnant (they were 4,3,and 1 at the time). They said "Oh we're going to have a sister and her name is Isabel". So, that's what we named her!

For some reason, the first one that popped into my head was Andrea...not "Ann-dree-ah", but pronounced "Ann-dray-ah" with the accent on the second syllable. Quinn Andrea - gives you the longer middle name with the short first name. Either way, I love the name Quinn! Good luck!

If you can not come up with a middle name that you like she doesn't necessarily have to have a middle name. My parents couldn't figure out a good middle name for me so they just didn't give me one so now that I am married my maiden name is now my middle name. Plus when I was younger everyone thought it was neat that I didn't have a middle name. So don't just settle on a name that you are going to not call her just to find a middle name. Best of luck with your new little one.

I actually named my 2 yr old daughter Quinn. It was a name both my husband and I fell in love with. The only problem I had was finding a middle name that fit. Everything made her name sound like Queen when you said it in full. We ended up using my mother's maiden name for her middle name, which I love. It ended up working out very well.
Whatever you choose, it will be beautiful. It's a great name!

I like Quinn Elizabeth, Quinn Elise, Quinn Alexandra... I think Marie works too.
It seems like you need something with more than 1 syllable to go with it. Do you have any family names you can use? Like your (or your husband's) mom, grandmother, aunts, etc? I think an older/classic name would work well with Quinn.
Honestly, I do have to say, I'm not a fan of Quinlen or Quinlyn. I do really love the name Quinn for a girl though.

Are there any names in your family that are special to you? Perhaps your middle name, or your mother or Grandmothers' names or middle names? Look back into both of your families a few generations and see if you come up with anything. I don;t think its so much if the name "goes with" or "sounds good" with Quinn, but rather if you like it, and giving her a family name will add meaning to her name for her. No matter what you name her you will get used to it and so will everyone else and it will just be her name. In fact, what my husband and I did was keep our sons names secret until they were born. We did this b/c we wanted to give everyone some sort of surprise since we all knew they were already boys and I love surprises, but what I found when we used a name that wasn't exactly common (Liam) is that the first time a person heard it they were like, "Liam?!" and then after that it was just his name, no big deal about it, they respected what we named him and call him by his name and its so not an issue anymore. Telling them in advance gives them plenty of opportunity to give their opinions, I realized! :o) Another thing I wanted to say about names is that once they get outside of the house they will become whoever they want to be, like we named our son James, and we hope to keep him James, but we realize that at some point its beyond our control if his friends start calling him Jim or some other form of James. So, while a name is like the first and perhaps besides doing your best to make your daughter healthy before she's born and caring for yourself, etc., most important decision you'll make for her (no stress, right?!) just name her what you like best, that's all you can do for her forever: your best. You guys will come up with something great, I'm sure of it and by the way, I really like the name you've chosen so far! :o)

ok...I love the name Quinn! I would seriously avoid using a name which would connect with royalty (Queen Anne, Queen Elizabeth, etc) - it simply brings to mind dowdy old ladies! & in school, kids will use this as a weapon.
How about another surname? Or if you really like unusual names, then what about Quinn Aleah, Quinn Lael, Quinn Shea/Shae, or Quinn Nevaeh (which is heaven spelled backwards)?
& personally, I think I prefer using Quinn...& not a longer version. & I also think a 2 syllable middle name flows better! Good luck on a safe & quick delivery.

Here's my take on this: I think Quinn Noel sounds good. And judging on your due date you conceived somewhere around Christmas time so Noel would fit right in. I think Quinn is a beautiful and powerful name for a girl. I like it a lot! When I named my girls I was looking to the future. I wanted names that sounded powerful for their career choices. Whatever they may be. My girls names are Gabriella Reese and Kaitlyn Rose.
What might help you is this: Quinn is a one syllable name, so look for names that are more than one syllable. They'll flow better. Good Luck! Naming a baby is one of the hardest things.

My daughters name is Paige, it was hard finding a middle name because it sounded like we were Paging her middle name...lol. You have to be careful with Quinn, her middle name obiviously couldnt be Elizabeth...haha! I LOVE the name Nicole, if I had another girl, her first or middle name would be Nicole. Quinn Nicole? We went with Paige Lynn, both aunts, and grandma had the middle name Lynn. Good Luck. Congrats!

I loved so many of the names in the responses you've received! One of my favorite gradeschool teachers was named Kathleen Quinlyn. I so wanted to be just like her. Of course, Quinlyn was her last name and it may be my own nastalgic emotions swaying me, but Quinlyn Kathleen seemed to have a sweet ring to it. Being named K., myself, really is not my motive for this suggestion. It is purely because of the way it sounds with Quinlyn and fond memories of my dear 3rd grade teacher.
There are several things I think should be considered when choosing a name. The meaning and history of the name can be researched. Quinn has it's own history, beginning as the Celtic male name, O'Cuinn, meaning wise, free, intelligent. But, it is also short for a variety of names such as Quinten and Quincy, meaning fifth or fifth son. When it is used as a shortened form of Quinlan, the origin referred to being 'well shaped', although one website reports it as meaning 'shaped like a well'. I assume that was a misprint. Other websites report Quinlan as meaning 'gently shaped man'. One website did report that an English origin of Quinn refers to 'queen'.
So, the name Quinlyn Kathleen would mean 'well shaped pure one', whereas Quinn Kathleen would mean 'wise pure one' or 'queen pure one'. So, whatever name you choose, you might want to compare meanings as well as sound.
Also, don't forget to consider how the last name fits in. There is a flow to a name that can make it either easy or awkward to pronounce. For example, Quinlyn Kathleen Jones flows easily, whereas I would prefer Quinn Katrina Jones to Quinn Kathleen Jones. However, with a very complex last name, I would prefer Quinn Kathleen Bartholomew to Quinlyn Kathleen Bartholomew. Also, keep in mind that the first and last name will most commonly be used without the middle name and needs to be able to stand alone, primarily. To me, Quinlyn Jones sounds much better than Quinn Jones.
Also, please remember to consider the initials. My cousin was given 2 middle names and his initials spelled SLOP. Since it appears that your last name begins with an S, you might want to avoid names that begin with R, unless you think it would be cute to have the initials QRS. Also, QHS appears to be a medical abbreviation for medications that should be taken 'every night at bedtime'. That may be a stretch for most people to associate, but if she finds herself in medical school, I wouldn't want my fellow students picking up on it. If your last name began with C, I would not only avoid the name Victoria so as to avoid the association with Queen Victoria, but also with QVC, the shopping channel.

Hi R.,
Congratulations! Quinn is a great name! I went back thru my family history and looked at old names and researched online for old world Irish and English names, because thats mine and my husbands heritage. You can do the same for Polish,Russian or Martian. LOL. You can also combine names.Like your mothers middle name and your husbands great great aunts first name. Eliza + Alicia = Elizia ,type thing.I believe a name is important and should mean something.Afterall, its going to be with them their entire life. I feel like I honored not only our daughter, but my great grandmother and our heritage by naming her like we did.
You could also have several in mind and when you look at her, decide then. Sometimes 'Frank' just doesnt work on a 'Jo'. LOL.
Good luck!
