Rainy Day Ideas

Not that many rainy days happen in San Diego, but when they do, it really puts a damper on the activities my son and I do together. Mostly consist of being outdoors since he absolutely LOVES being outside. He is 7 months old and I am trying to find stuff to do on rainy days that could be entertaining for him. Only things I could find were baby gyms and stuff like that, that are really expensive to join.
Anyone have any suggestions of stuff I could do with my son on rainy days?
Thanks!

What can I do next?

We go to the book store or library.

Chuck E. Cheese is free - the babies love to watch the show they put on, and if you hold him, he could go on the little rides (25 cents each). The mall is a good place, especially if it has a pet store (north county mall) and show him toys and stuffed animals. That's all I can think of!

Hi D.,

My children were always happy to sit with toys while I interacted with them. Maybe this would be a good oportunity to engage him on some one-on-one indoor activities. Puzzles , blocks, board books, and most Fisher Price baby toys, etc. Maybe take a trip to Taget's toy isle or to Toy's R Us and pick up a few new toys! Hey either of those places are entertaining regardless if you buy something or not!

Enjoy the rain!

For free events check out your local library, Borders Bookstore, Barnes and Noble Bookstore, and city recreation department. I think they offer story time at some of the malls too.

On rainy days like today, we just hang out in our PJ's and relax since the rest of our days are always busy. But when we can't go outdoors and are going nuts inside (I have a 4 yo boy and a 2 yo girl), we either head to the mall play area or to My Kids CLubhouse.

I think the normal day price is $8 per child. But we bought the annual pass when it was on special for $99 for the first kid and $50 for siblings. And since my son has Tae Kwon Do lessons right next to it twice a week, we go there afterwards for about an hour each time so it's worth it for us. What I like about it is that you can pretty much stand in the middle and I have full view of both my kids. Definitely wouldn't go there in the morning though....too crowded. We go after 2pm and it's much better....sometimes my kids are the only ones there. But usually there are 10-15 other kids/babies there so it's pretty fun for my kids.

I think at 7 months old, even going to the mall and walking around or going to a pet store would be enjoyable. I have an 18 month old, so we usually go to PlayWerx (in Carlsbad), it's just $5.00 each time, or the Aquarium is also fun and indoors. Thank goodness it doesn't rain here very often. We are so spoiled!
