So What Happened?

I typically use mugs for tea but am not opposed to using them for other things. The exception being juice. I don't drink a lot of juice but when I do I like it to be in a glass.

I have two large mugs that I use for soup and I put my daughters' snacks in little retro coffee mugs.

I do have a favorite. It is stripey.

Mugs are for hot beverages such as coffee and hot chocolate.
Tea cups are for hot tea.
Glasses are for cold beverages with ice.
Plastic cups are for water out of the tap.

I'm the only one in this house who follows these "rules". No one else cares and my husband thinks I'm crazy. I say just a little OCD! ;)

Hot chocolate or coffee (I don't drink it)....it's funky for me to drink anything not "hot" out of a "mug"...

I use mine for coffee or tea. However, my son will use a mug for anything, including ice and water! I ask him why doesn't he just use a glass!! He doesn't know!! LOL!

I love glass. So mugs for hot beverages, witch I love at a scalding temperature (Cannot deal with metal) and pretty class or crystal for cold items..

My husband has discovered he loves drinking out of glass "mason jars.." He is a Country Hick!.. Pina Coladas and White Russians out of a mason jar.. is not glamorous, but it holds a good amount.

I think I just over shared.

I'm pretty consistent with my mug being only for hot beverages. I have a special Desert Rose pattern mug my husband bought me. I also have a favorite water glass, too. (We have a mishmash of kitchen items and not a lot of matching things... the fact that we have four matching wine glasses is amazing.)

Cannot stomach plastic. Just grosses me out.

Do you have a special mug?

It used to only be for HOT liquids, but lately, I'll use a clean mug for water or soy milk first, then put my cofee in it after I finish. Hydrate to dehydrate - LOL. ONe less glass to clean.

Mugs are for coffee or hot chocolate only in this house. I'm a freak too. I only like to use the solo plastic cups, not glass. To me, glass smells like wet dog! Lol.

Thank you for this opportunity to vent! ;)
My husband breaks ALL of the rules associated with drinking and eating. He drinks all drinks from any vessel...the first one his hand lands on, I suspect. If all the spoons are dirty, he will not wash one, he just moves on to the serving spoons or plastic ones. It drives me bananas!!!! He acts like I'm nuts when I call him out on it. "Oh? Is cold water BAD for mugs?" What an A$$!!! "I thought SPOONS were for eating cereal" like the one in his hand wouldn't be better for feeding a GORILLA cereal or for serving mashed potatoes.
I like to use thing as they were intended. And I DO have a favorite mug or two, depending on my mood. :)

I've got a metal travel "mug" that I use mainly for hot but occasionally use for cold drinks as well. I only ever use it for hot at home and I don't ever use any regular coffee mugs because they're not large enough for me.

I have 22 oz. glass mugs and use them for coffee, tea, soup, as well as cold drinks and juice. There is room for lots of ice so they are perfect for a big iced tea in summer.

Well, mostly. But I also use them to put ice-cream in. :)

And I have a set of huge mugs/cups--they are an "extra" set that came with my dishes. They are exactly like the tea cups, except they are huge. They have a dainty little foot on them and a slender handle. But they hold something like 24 oz. I use them for cold cereal instead of cereal bowls.

always something hot - for me.

my son (4yrs) wanted to use a Transformers mug I bought recently (for me to use, but I guess for my son to see, or maybe I thought I'd put pens/crayons in it). So anyway - my son drank cold milk from the mug.

But me? I will ONLY use a mug for hot coffee, hot tea, or hot cocoa.

oops - I read other answers. YES I will put soup in a mug as well. MAYBE ice cream on occasion.

@Laurie: I served my husband an iced tea yesterday in a large mason jar. We regularly drink our water out of Mason jars. Margaritas too.

Big ceramic mugs are used for soup or milk. My husband has insulated coffee mugs that are only used for coffee (he is the only coffee and tea drinker in the house). Medium ceramic mugs are used for juice, milk, water. We have a set of smaller ceramic mugs that are perfect for a serving of ice cream or yogurt.
