Hi! I am looking for some names of female OB/GYN's that people have had positive experiences with, within the Medford MA area. I am also looking to hear people's experiences during their deliveries at local hospitals...I am trying to decide on what hospital to deliver at. My current Dr, is out of Winchester hospital but I have heard some pretty bad reviews and may be looking to change Dr's.

Hi K., congratulations on your pregnancy! I see Dr. Bernard Logan out of Medford - his office is in the Hallmark Health building on Main St. across from the Police Station. He delivers out of Melrose/Wakefield hospital. This is my 2nd pregnancy. He is a wonderful dr. and the hospital staff (nurses, lactation consultants, etc.) were incredible during the whole labor process as well as the care after my daughter was born. They also have a neo-natal ICU...we didn't need it, but it was reassuring knowing that it was available just in case. The # there is ###-###-#### if you are interested in speaking w/ them.

Good Luck! ~C.

Hey K.,
I have been going to Dr. Montiero for ten years now - he has delivered both my children. The staff at his office are wonderful. I had my first at the Boston Regional (which is no longer there) and my second a the Melrose Wakefield - I was very pleased with all. Dr. Montiero is located in Melrose just behind the fire station. Good luck and god bless :)

1st of all Congrats on the pregnancy! I have to agree with Christina... I travelled all the way from West Roxbury to Medford just to see Dr. Bernard Logan when I was pregnant with my son. (My daughter was delivered in NY while my husband was in the military, otherwise I would have had Dr Logan deliver her as well). He is a sweet, older gentlman and his staff is absolutely great. I had a wonderful experience delivering my son with him at Melrose-Wakefield. Their maternity ward has a good reputation...my mother even delivered her 4 children there! Dr Logan is at 101 Main St and the # is ###-###-####. Good Luck!

I had a baby @ Winchester and also at Melrose-Wakefield. Definitely prefered Winchester. I am with Dr Ellen Guthrie in Medford, who I think is quite sought after, but I'm looking to move since I find the office tough - long waits & many missed appts with Dr Guthrie due to babies arriving. Oddly, was never an issue when I was pregnant; the nurse practitioner is terrific there as well.

Hi K.! Congratualtions on your first pregnancy!! How exciting. Dr. Matthias Muenzer delivered both of my children and he is excellent. He is located at 101 Main St. in Medford. Everyone that works there is very nice and personable. He delivers at Melrose/wakefield Hospital and i had a great experience both times. The nurses were great!! Hope this helps you out and best of luck!!

I go to the Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates practice. There is one in Medford and Somerville. My OB/GYN is at Somerville (Dr. Koontz). She is soft spoken, but tells you what is going on and has two kids of her own. Plus, the bonus w/ the practice is there are emergency care hours on the weekends. So if something comes up, you call and a nurse calls you back to discuss the issue. There are a few other dr. in the office that you can research if you want (check out http://www.harvardvanguard.org/locs/loc2.asp?ofc=Somervil... for the location and list of doctors). I'm sure you can set up a meet and greet appointment too. They have ultrasound equipment in the office to check heartbeat, etc. if needed, but send you to an outside facility to get the "real" ultrasound tests done. I have one son who is three and am expecting another in February and both have been w/ Dr. Koontz. She is affiliated with Mt. Auburn Hospital, that is where I delivered and where I'm delivering again. The only thing is there are a few doctors on call at the hospital so when you are in labor, you get whatever doctor is on call that day/night. I didn't actually have my OB/GYN deliver my son b/c another dr. was on call, but my OB/GYN called me while I was at the hospital to check in. I had a good experience overall at the hospital too. There are opportunities to "meet the doctors" that is held at the hospital which is nice, you get a tour of the maternity ward and can meet and ask all the dr. that may be on call questions. Call the hospital for more information on this.

Good luck no matter what you do!

I delivered two children at Winchester - with two very different outcomes (one stillbirth, one live birth). I cannot say enough good things about the labor and delivery team. They were extremely supportive during both deliveries. However, I found the nurses in the post-partum side very difficult. Twice I had to wait 90 minutes just to get ibuprofen. So this time, I'm going back to Mt. Auburn where I had my first baby. My OB is Dr. Dawn Anderson in Arlington and so far, so good! Good luck.
