Really Weird Period. (Tmi Warning)

So. My period this month has been REALLY weird. According to my period tracker, we did have unprotected sex 2 days after my "fertile" time, and I am planning to take a pregnancy test here in the next couple days just to be sure its not wonky implantation bleeding or something.

Normally, my period lasts for 5 days. I start with a HEAVY flow for the first 2 days, with a very light flow the next 2, and spotting for the last day. My period has also been accurate to the time of day it starts, for the last couple years. It is always a deep red, or brownish color.

This month, I "started" two days before my period was due. (11 days after we had sex.) I'm not sure how long the bleeding actually lasted, but when I went to change my tampon it was barely used... Just the top 1/6 or so. It was also more pinkish than red. Then I had NO bleeding until the day after my period was due. (3 days) The first day was definitely lighter flow than usual, but still an appropriate amount... But it was much lighter in color, pinkish or bright red and mucousy. The next day went to a normal color and flow, then stopped again for one day. Then it came back today, super light flow (too steady to consider spotting, but very light.) but dark red/brown color.

So what the heck does this sound like to you? Everything I found on implantation bleeding says that it usually only lasts from a few hours to 2 days... Not this on-off bleeding over the course of 8 days!

What can I do next?

This is a case for a Doctor. I had 5 periods (or what I thought were periods) with my second child. Found out at 5 1/2 months I was pregnant. Delivered at 7 months. Turned out I had FULL Placenta Previa. Lesson learned "When in doubt get it checked out". Glad to say my daughter survived and is a healthy young woman today. But never wait.

I used to have that occasionally. I was told it was an ovulation thing. Sort of a head start when I ovulated. Not really sure but it was normal.

Although there is no harm is making an appointment to have a check up.

Are you old enough that it might be perimenopause? An appt with your OB wouldn't hurt.

I'm not sure. If you have been consistant for that long and now an oddity, you should talk to your doctor. It is possible that it was implantation, etc. There shouldn't be a problem to just talk to the gyn and get it checked, since it is do different from your norm.

In the future, if you are trying to get pregnant, I would stop using tampons, if possible.
