Our son is 10 years old and wants to be on a Swim Team. He wants to start out with swim lessons of course to prepare and build his swimming skills. He has taken lessons before and knows how to swim already so he is not starting off brand new. I have already checked out Lakeside and Emler. Both are overpriced. We live in Fort Worth and are trying to stay within Fort Worth/Keller area as much as possible but know we may have go a little further out.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated!
Mansfield has a natatorium and does swim lessons and swim teams. I don't know if it is limited to Mansfield ISD students or not. You might call and check on this.
Check out Swim Nation! They practice at TCC on 26 (near NRH2O). MY 8 year old daughter is loving it. It sounds as if she at a similar place to your son. Coach Andre will have him show what he can do and then make a recommendation for placement. My daughter could swim as well, just not any refined strokes. What a huge difference in just a few weeks. You might check with the Mansfield ISD natatorium and also the City of Arlington--they used to have a swim team out of Hugh Smith Recreation Center. I don't know if they have requirements that you have to live in the city or the district. Good luck!

- Aqua Kids of Keller (but they might be in the saem cost range at Emler)
- Keller ISD Natatorium
-Keller Pointe
- Southlake/Caroll also has a natatorium
My guess would be that the Keller ISD Natatorium would be the most reasonable.
