I made a pot roast the other night. I want to put the leftovers in a crock pot with bbq sauce so we can shred it up and have the last of it on sandwich rolls. It's already been sliced, but do I need to cut it up more now, or will it get all soft and shredable in the crockpot? I usually ask my mil these things, but her phone is only going to voicemail right now :)

What can I do next?

Holy Mackeral! Mix the meat with a mixer? Never heard of such thing, lol!
I'd just put the meat in the pot with your sauce and let time take it's course, it should tenderize nicely and shred easily with a fork after a few hours.

TELL ME MORE about how not to break your mixer trying to shred beef that might not be at shred stage just yet? Vitamix maybe, but hand mixer, no way.

Add the BBQ sauce at the last minute. Don't add liquid. Don't use a mixer! Drain any & all liquid after cooking. Shred with 2 large forks. Add sauce. Mix, heat.

Put the meat in a deep bowl and warm in the microwave--not hot enough to eat just warmed. Then take a mixer and 'beat' the roast. The mixer will shred the meat. Add back to slo-cooker and top with the sauce.

When the meat is warm to hot it will shred much easier.

Listen to Just M. If you slice it before crock pot you'll have soup not sandwiches.

Yup..it will fall apart and worst case scenario, you can help it a little by fork pulling it and it will just go FLUMP into pieces!

I would add something to the meat that is either beef broth or water so the meat is not dried out too much and heat the meat first. After it is heated all the way through I would take it out and pull it apart, if it does not come apart then use a food chopper.

Drain anything in the pot and pour the sauce over the meat and then heat it until it's all the way warm. That's as good as it will be. If the meat was tender before it should be just as tender now but with the sauce on it and warm.

The reason I suggest it this way is that some BBQ sauce's have a lot of sugar in them and sugar can scorch in a crock pot. Just a thought, it might do fine either way.
