Recommend a Dermatologist for Acne?

My 15 year old son has requested to go to a dermatologist for his acne. It's really not that bad, but if it will make him feel better I feel it's worth the time. Does anyone have any recommendations? Close to Frisco would be best and if they take United Healthcare insurance that would be even better.

What can I do next?

Hi, I don't really know a dermatologist but I use to have a lot of acne (A LOT). Anyways, has he tried the Clinique products that the sell at the mall? (Macy's or any department store). I bought a lot of their Acne products and they really worked for me. I also changed my eating habits, more fruits, a lot of water, nothing fried, and I use to make this HORRIBLE natural shakes where I would add Aloe Vera and to clean my body from the inside out. I also didn't touch my face at all, I use to wear my hair back all the time, since the natural oils from the hair could make my skin worse, and I used a shampoo specially designed for people with Acne. After doing this for a few months the Acne completely disappeared. Hope this helps.

You could try Dr. Jennifer Stalkup or her PA. I took my son there this summer (same age as yours). We saw results very quickly and he is much happier with his skin. Plano Dermatology, 6100 Windhaven, ###-###-####

My husband had horrible acne when he was a teen, and still has the scars to prove it. When my now 16 year old began to go down the same path, I took him to my acupuncturist instead of the dermatologist. There are a couple of them who practice out of ACM Health Solutions that can actually balance their hormones, as well as eliminate any food allergies that might be contributing to the issue. Neither of my teens have this problem now, and the only time they get a zit is when they get lazy about washing their face. No insurance is taken though, but the results are permanent. They are at Coit & Spring Creek, ###-###-####. Ask for either Dr. Steve Homoky or Dr. Cheannie Marquis. Good luck!

Dr. Allen Menter and his PA's are well known and respected in the area. They are located downtown Dallas at Baylor but FAR worth the visit.

We started seeing him on a proactive approach to avoid issues with daughter.

Also, both daughter and I are avid Clinique users and we are very faithful with our skin care routine. I've used Clinique since I was about 11. I am 49 and pass for early 30's.

Clinique is also recommended by dermatologists.
