Recommendations for an Ob/gyn in the Naperville Area?

Hi everyone, I just moved to Naperville with my husband and our baby. I am looking for an OB/Gyn dr. . Since I had a C-section for the birth of my son, I plan to have my next baby delivered by a C-section as well. Therefore, I would appreciate if anyone has any recommendations of good OB/Gyn surgeons in the Naperville area. Also - which hospital is considered best around here for giving birth? Any help would be much appreciated!

What can I do next?

My OB/Gyn's are out of DuPage Medical Group and they have a lot of different doctors/locations/etc.

I had my children at Edward Hospital in Naperville and am getting ready to have #3 there as well. We have had nothing but positive experiences at Edward.

Best of luck to you!

My sister just had a baby at Rush Copley and their birthing suites are absolutely fantastic! I don't know who her doctor is, but I know that she loves her. However, if you're going C-section, you won't really get to enjoy the awesomeness of the birthing suites! And the post-natal rooms are quite small (granted, you'll only be in it for a night or two). But the hospital itself is very highly rated for Labor & Delivery!

Another negative (for me, anyway) was that my sister was told that they didn't really have a nursery for healthy babies--healthy newborns have to room-in with the mom. I personally preferred one last night of easing into the full parental responsibilities before going home. That's just me, though. The last thing I didn't prefer was that the front desk for Labor & Delivery wasn't manned after 6pm, but visiting hours go until 9pm! So, you have to buzz the buzzer and get buzzed in, but there's no one really checking with the new mom that she knows the person, nor is up for visitors.

I guess I just had such an awesome delivery experience for both of mine at Delnor up in Geneva that anything else requires my criticism! (and my doctor also delivers at Central DuPage, which is also very highly rated--my doctor is part of DuPage OB/GYN, which the only Dr I don't recommend in that practice is Dr. Bowles--he's very old-school and hopefully about to retire...everyone else is really GREAT there!)

I recommend Dr. Joe Martin or Dr. Maryann Phillipi with DuPage Medical Group. Dr. Martin really takes his time asking/answering questions and is thorough, has a good sense of humor and is compassionate. Dr. Phillipi is very thorough as well and has a great personality. Within that practice, there are several doctors so they like to rotate you through all of them since any of them could deliver your baby. None of them are bad; I just really like those two. I didn't have a c-section, but they are very reputable and are open to VBACs or sections if you have had a section before. Dr. Phillipi performed an external cephalic version to turn my baby 2 wks before she was born because she was breech. It was successful. I had to be checked into Edward for that and had a great experience. Martin and Phillipi can deliver at Edward Hospital in Naperville or Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. I just delivered my second baby at Edward 6 months ago and was very pleased with the care. They do not have the LDRP suites where you are in the same room from beginning to end. I was spoiled from our first son when he was born and we had one a few years ago in central IL. The hospital is very well known for excellent care and I can conur with that. They have remodeled their labor rooms so they are big and nice. The maternity floor where you stay after the baby is born has not been remodeled yet and the rooms are small. They aren't anything special, but they are clean and have the necessities. None of the hospitals in this area have the LDRP suites.

Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora is good, too, but I don't know any doctors to recommend through there.

I have found the top delivery hospitals in this area to be Edward, Central DuPage, and Rush Copley. Best of luck!

I LOVE Dr. Mark Morrison with Female Healthcare. I've been seeing him since I was 20 and he's about to deliver my third baby at the end of this month. He delivers at more than one hospital, but from the Naperville office he does Central Dupage Hospital. I LOVED my experience there when I delivered my twins. My husband said it best. It felt like we checked into a hotel, not a hospital. I had a c-section, and the entire staff was wonderful. Plus, I really like all of the nurses that work at the OB/GYN office, too. They know me by name, ask about my kids, and are very welcoming to my husband, too.

I LOVE Rush Copley OB/GYN. I started out with the midwives and ended up with an unplanned c-section with Dr. Richard Tom when my son was born early and breach. Dr. Tom was GREAT! Several of the nurses also commented on how great he is for delivering babies, meticulous and more cautious from the nurse standpoint, but that's exactly what one wants with a surgeon :) One of the nurses was pregnant and said Dr. Tom was who she wanted delivering her baby. He's a great doctor AND has great bedside manner. My son is 7 who was born there. My 5 year old I had at CDH and I realized how Rush Copley really raised the bar for me. Though many said how much they liked CDH's DuPage Medical Group, when I told them what I was less impressed with, the answer was often, "yeah, well that's true" but they just didn't know any other way. At DuPage I only met about half the group, half of whom were fine and half I didn't care for, whereas I really liked ALL of them at Rush Copley and met all but one. Rush Copley is great. Returning there despite the distance. :)

I go to Dr. Betty Hsia of Dupage Health Specialists 630/717-5700. I like all of the other doctors in that practice too. I didn't have c-sections, so I don't know how well they are with those. They have admitting privileges at Edward Hospital. I'm not a huge fan of Edward, but I think they are remodeling the maternity ward, so it might be a nice place to deliver by the time you have your next baby.

Central DuPage Hospital is nice too, but they are located in Winfield. I also hear great things about Mercy, but they are a little too far from my side of Naperville. If you live on the west side of Naperville, you might want to check them out. Welcome to the neighborhood!

Womens Center for Health is great - they work through Edward Hospital. I had both of my children thru them/that hospital. Any of the doctors at the Naperville location are wonderful, especially Josupait!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Naperville Women's HealthCare. I actually was just there yesterday. I delivered at Edward Hospital 6 & 7 years ago. I know they have added at least one doctor since I delivered my two girls. But I love Dr. Lucaric and Dr. Flannery. They are both well versed at handling high risk pregnancies. The entire office is warm and welcoming. Even though I was just there for a check up yesterday, I stopped at talked with my favorite receptionist for nearly 10 minutes. Donna, who is a nurse there is also FABULOUS!!!! I can't say enough about this office. I even liked the people in the billing dept! :) Good luck with whom ever you choose.
