Red Spots/rash on 20 Month Old ?

My 20 month old woke up this morning with red spots ( slightly raised) on her cheeks. Her face also looked flushed. I didn't worry too much about it. Later this evening, her entire legs and arms and also some area on her back was covered with the same spots. They look like tiny insect bites but I am sure it's not an insect bite.

She doesn't have any fever ( though 2 weeks back she was down with fever and an ear infection). She does have a slight cold no cough. The spots don't seem to bother her much though she does appear to be a bit irritable than usual. I am taking her to the doc tomorrow but wondering if anyone has any idea what this could be?

What can I do next?

I would say heat rash if they were on her chest and back, or underarms and neck.... but if it's mostly her arms and legs, I'm not sure.

Have you maybe switched laundry detergents, or has she eaten anything new?

A possibility...

The fever...cold symptoms come first...seem to be gone...then the rash appears. My kids had it two summers ago. It started on the cheeks then the back/chest then arms and legs then hands and feet.
Hope she feels better quickly.

if it comes and goes...it also could be fifth disease -- rash that comes and goes without fever. it is harmless. comes from measles group. takes 10 days to 2 wks to disapate.

feel good soon.

My guess woud be hand, foot and mouth disease. My kids have it right now. We went to the ER and then followed up with their pediatrician because it came on so quickly. Apparently, HFM is going around right now according to the docs we spoke to. It's a virus that has to run its course.
