I've had three kids cut teeth, and I've never seen one 'really loose' with redness, so I wouldn't say this is typical. Dentist recommended soon... I'm sure it's fine, but better safe.
Just wondering. My son lost his 2 bottom teeth about 6 months ago rather effortlessly. His two top teeth are now moving down and one of the front teeth is very loose. It is also red and swollen on his gum above that tooth. Is the redness typical or some sort of infection/inflammation that I should check with the dentist about?
He has been having some 'referred pain' in his cheeks per our ped so I know the tooth is bothering him, although I don't recall the redness when I took him to the dr a couple weeks ago.
Thanks!

at least call your dentist if not take him in. i can understand it being some what red b.c a new tooth is coming in the thing that scares me is the pain in the cheeks. hope this helps
Yes, I would definately take him to a dentist. Redness and pain is a sign of infection.

My 6 year old's two top teeth are very loose but there is no redness or swelling and she is not complaining of pain. I'd go to the dentist.
Sounds like he may have hit his mouth. If not something is going on. Get him to a dentist now.
I would definetly get him into a dentist. It sounds like a abcess with the red and swollen area on the gum.
I agree that you should take him to the dentist ASAP. It may be as simple as the new tooth erupting and irritating the gums - the way you see in an infant. But this is not what we usually see in our 6 year olds.
The "referred pain" in his cheeks also bothers me. He could have more of an infection than you can see.
Good luck. Let us know what the dentist says.
