My daughter Alison has reflux... she is almost 6 months old, the only medicine that has worked really well for her is Prevacid... good luck, I know it is hard to have a reflux baby!!!!
I am wondering if any of you have used reglan with your children? My son is on zantac right now with no improvement. My neighbor who is a pediatric nurse said to ask the dr. about trying reglan. Since I don't know anything about it, I thought maybe some of you did!
Any info is apprecitated!
Thanks!

Hi there-
Both of my kids had/ have reflux. My son, who is just 4, has since outgrown it but my 5 month old daughter is still suffering with it. She is on Zantac and it works very little. My son, however, was on both Zantac and Reglan when he was being treated for his. It seemed to do the trick. The problem is that many doctors don't prescribe Reglan anymore because of the serious complications associated with it- like seizures. I would do my research before deciding if it is right for you and worth the risks.
Good luck and feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

when my daughter was about 3 months we had her on reglan and it did not make difference with her, she eventually outgrew her reflux and with a little formula with cereal at nite it seemed to help her with out the medication
My daughter is on reglan for a long period and now she has a condition call tardive dystonia which altered her life completely as a result of the medication. So the medication can help but no one should be on it for more than 12 weeks
Hello. Our daughter had reflux until she was 9 months old. She was diagnosed before we even left the hospital with her. The doctor did put her on Reglan but ONLY for a few days. They said that they don't like to keep them on it because of the side effects that it can cause.
Good luck with it all!!
Sorry, I don't have any info or advice on Reglan, but here may be an alternative. I don't know if maybe the dosage the doctor prescribed is enough for your son. My daughter took 3ml of Zantac 3 times per day from the time she was about 8 weeks old until 1 year old. The ped said that was a pretty generous dosing amount and schedule, and my daughter would self wean as she gained weight (vs. the dose) and the reflux got better. The ped always reevaluated the dosage each milestone visit to make sure it was enough.
i myself used to use it til i had fundoplication surgery to fix the problems. it worked the best and most consistently out of all the "newer" drugs and is a "zillion" dollars cheaper..BUT it also made me sleepy. its worth a try. it is one of the tried and tested drugs that have been around a long time, as opposed to all these newere ones that noone has a clue on the long term effects. best of luck to your son..

HI S....my daughter was on Reglan after being released from the hospital following heart surgery. The Reglan did not really agree with her or make much difference in her slight reflux. I saw a GI doctor who switched her to Prevacid and that seems to work fine. She does not have much vomitting reflux, just more of the bubbles though. Good luck with your son.
Hi S.,
My daughter (now 2) had reflux until she was 8 months old. It wasn't painful to her but she would projectile vomit what seemed like her whole bottle right after eating. The doctor prescribed Reglan. Didn't work for us. She just had to outgrow it.
my son was born with acid relflux and was put on reglan within about 9 months the condition improved and he nowis on nothing. he is 4 now and every once in a while he will get hart burn and i just give him tums. i think it is a ood choice. good luck
