Regular Cycles and Low Progesterone

I have been trying to get pregnant for almost 2 years with a second child. I had one ovary removed during previous pregnancy, and cysts removed off remaining ovary. My dr. says that as long as I am having a regular cycle around 28 or more days, it means I am ovulating and hormones are probably fine. Anyone else have a situation where they were regular, but had low tested progesterone? I am wondering if I should asked to have my levels checked just to be sure that low hormones are not hindering conception...

What can I do next?

Are you temping? I remember reading something about luteal phase defect and low progesterine so I googled it, I need to look into it more too because I've had a bad run with fertility and pregnancy this year. Basically your temp. should rise after you ovulate and your luteal phase should be between 10-14 days. If your temp. isn't high enough and your lp is too short then luteal phase defect may be the culprit. Fertilityfriend.com is a good resource for charting. I've never temped myself, (just bought the thermometer) but I think I may try it. Good luck!

Definitely get your levels checked. I have a friend who had regular cycles and thought that she had no issues. It wasn't until she started temping that she figured out that she didn't ovulate at all since her temps never went up. So, regular cycles alone are not enough information to figure out if something is wrong. If you seek fertility treatments, a lot of doctors automatically put you on progesterone just to be sure that if the egg does fertilize that a progesterone issue doesn't cause problems.
Hopefully things work out soon for you. I unfortunately am in a similar situation so I understand how hard it can be.

Have your levels checked just to be sure you are fine? Is there a chance of scar tissue left over from the removal of the cysts? Sometimes that can cause it to be harder to get pregnant. I would not get discouraged though, you know you can get pregnant because you have a child now. If the low progesterone is the problem than that's an easy fix... good luck...

I have always had regular cycles, but when trying to conceive my first I found out my progesterone was low. I had to use Clomid to conceive my twins. When we were ready for baby #3, I had my levels checked, and again my progesterone was low. However, we are now expecting without the use of fertility.
